Vintage retro logo that says The Friday Finisher in off white and black colour.
Hi First name / friend,

Yep, it really is the last Friday before Christmas, I really have no idea where the time has gone. I hope you are all winding down and hopefully have some time off planned.
Remember, taking time off is productive.

I will be heading back to England, spending some time in Dorset at my family's and then some time in London, I can't wait.

I've got some really exciting content for you this week. First is a graphic design salary sheet that is a real eye-opener into what people are earning in your industry.

Second, even more exciting, is my free video course all about Firefly logo creation that I'm sharing with you all here, as a thank you for being part of the newsletter.

Let's dive in.

LINK OF THE WEEK
Graphic Design Salary Transparency Doc

Okay, so last week you guys went crazy over the freelance rates report. It was actually the most clicked article since this newsletter began. Clearly you are interested in the topic of earnings, I mean who isn't.

I received a message from a follower on Instagram of another really interesting document. This one is for all non-freelancers who work in-house or at a studio on a contract.

Over 3000+ designers have shared their employment information, from company, year hired and how much their salary is. Again, this is such a helpful document to help you get what you are worth.

DESIGN OF THE WEEK
Memory Card Maker Sandisk Gets a Rebrand

When we think of memory cards and hard-drive makers, we don't ever really think they need to be cool or trendy. Well…maybe that's about to change.

Sandisk, probably the biggest player in the memory card game, has rebranded, and thankfully it is not another super minimal sans-serif font. (Is the era of blandification over? Oh, I hope so).

I'm actually quite a fan of the rebrand. Is it really needed, I'm not sure, but sometimes rebrands don't need a reason. Check it out below and let me know if you approve.

DESIGN ASSET OF THE WEEK
Adobe Firefly Logo Video Course

This week's free asset comes from me, and you are the first to get it as a loyal reader of this newsletter!

2024 was the year of Firefly creations, and my most viewed video this year was making some dripping 3D text. So, I thought I'd make a free video class on how to do it yourself, and hopefully it helps with any issues you might have had.

People have strong opinions about AI and image generation, and rightly so, but there is no denying that creating realistic logo creations with Firefly does look pretty cool. If this is something you've been wanting to try out, now is the time.

So, grab a hot drink and have a watch.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK
Make your Own Handwritten Font

Want to add a personal touch to your videos, presentations, or digital art? This handy little video I came across this week shows the process of taking your handwritten letters and creating a font that you can use just like any other font on your computer.

I'm for sure going to check it out and and try make my own. All the captions on my videos using my own actual handwriting sounds pretty cool to me.
