Hi friends, It's 7:02 am when I'm writing this, and it's still dark outside. It is one of the darkest weeks of the year as we approach the winter solstice when the days are the shortest. When you can, get some sunlight to fix that mood, and at night put on your jacket, go outside, and look up to see the last full moon of the year, which happens to be called the cold moon. Many of you thanked me for last week's movie recommendation (IF) so I will make sure to increase movie recommendations in the Sudnay Spark. I have yet to hear what you thought of the movie. Since it's the season, we enjoyed a new Christmas movie on movie night, "That Christmas". I would watch this movie again. We also listen to Hiba Tawaji's and Julia Butros's Christmas Albums and Home Alone soundtrack in the car. Have you started reflecting on the year? I have not. I plan to but not as a prerequisite for working on 2025 goals. This year, I want to jump into action as January begins. My goals group loves the seasons reminder from me, so I am extending this reminder to you and I am giving you two: - A fresh start is around the corner; you think it's January 1st, and you are not wrong, but it really is January 5th or 6th if your work week starts on a Monday, because who starts goals on a Wednesday? I hope you go for it, but I am keeping it real for you. Plan to use January 1st to January 4th to decide the top 3 goals you will focus on in the first 2 months of the year; why the first 2 months?Because:
- March 1st is Ramadan and that is a whole new season.
Taking these 2 reminders into consideration, let's start this year powerfully. What do you want to be true by March 1st 2025? Plan accordingly and keep an eye on your email for my soon-to-be-launched All Year Goals Program! |

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark ⚡️ a newsletter listing 3 sparks that I thought were worth starting your week with: |
1. ️ 📚 I traveled to the USA in 2019 and this book was one I carried on my shoulders the whole way back because it's worth the trouble; A Velocity of Being is a collection of gorgeous letters from creators to kids encouraging them to read and it's one of those books that I insist I would read to kids and not have them read themselves because I don't want to miss anything including the breathtaking art. Some letters are so beautiful I could weep. The good news is that the Kindle edition is temporarily on sale, and I think it's absolutely worth a look |
2. ✨ If you're in the mood for some deep, almost poetic, reflections from the curator of the beautiful book above, please read 18 Life-Learnings from 18 Years of The Marginalian. Maria Popova has been adding one lesson every year since she started sharing these learnings in year seven of the blog, but every time I read them I feel like it's the first time. |
3. 💬 🤝 A reminder to ASK for help; don't expect people to read your mind or take the initiative they don't think you need: |
“Self-critical perfectionists view asking for help as a sign they are not doing well and therefore not living up to the perfect performance they believe others expect from them. Much like the shame that people prone to procrastination often experience, self-critical perfectionists are often too ashamed to draw on their social resources to help them with their goals.” ― Fuschia M. Sirois, Procrastination |
