Greetings Barre Bae!

I hope this message finds you winding down for the year and ready for Winter Solstice on Saturday. This time of year symbolizes rebirth, renewal, and the celebration of light after the longest night of the year.

This week we are meeting an FBW newcomer in a member spotlight, having a Doechii listening party in class, helping me help you by taking a survey for what you'd like to see in 2025, and talking holiday class options.

Meet Elizabeth
FBW: Tell us a little bit about yourself (hobbies, where you live)

EA: My name is Elizabeth Axtman and I live in Sacramento, California. I’m an artist. I’m a daughter. I’m a sister. I’m a friend. I’m an auntie to my two amazing and hilarious nieces as well as to all my homegirls' 50leven babies. My two biggest hobbies are reading and watching films. They both help me understand myself better and my relationship to the world and the people in it. If we’re close I’ve probably baked something very delicious for you. I also love watching the Sacramento Kings #lightthebeam

FBW: What is your favorite thing about practicing barre?

EA: My favorite thing about barre is it reminds me that I’m a survivor, because my body battles through the moves Erica throws at me and somehow I come out the other end semi-alive and stronger.

FBW: What makes barre different from other modes of movement you do/have done?

EA: Barre is different from other workouts I’ve tried because it feels very easy on my joints yet
I’m sweating like I played full court basketball at the end of class.

FBW: What would you tell someone considering trying barre at FBW?

EA: I had spent many years not moving my butt after getting sober from drinking. The longer I went without working out, the more the idea of it became this scary and daunting thing. I shared these fears with Erica and she really helped me conquer my fears as she guided me into moving again. I went from not working out for 6 years to doing barre classes twice a week and going for 5.5 mile walks as long as the weather permits it. I know that this is all thanks to FBW, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

FBW: Anything else you’d like to share with the FBW community about barre in general or my classes specifically?

EA: If you are looking to begin moving again or already are but want to work with someone who believes in body positivity and that fitness is for your body and mind's health instead of a number on a scale, then you should go to FBW.
