Youth Art Gallery! NOW Opened at TCAC! |
We are excited to announce the opening of our new Youth Gallery at TCAC! The current exhibit showcases 20 remarkable pieces created by two talented young artists, Templeton (9) and Sara Horn (6) from Allegany, NY! Their works span a variety of mediums, including watercolor, graphic art, and steel. The establishment of the Youth Gallery was made possible through the generosity of our donors and the proceeds from our "Fall into Art" Raffle. To ensure the continued success and sustainability of the gallery for future exhibitions, we are actively seeking a corporate sponsor. Please contact info@tricountyartscouncil.org if interested! |

Basic Stain Glass In this class you will learn the copper foil method of making stained glass. You will be able to choose which design you would like to create from a variety of examples. More examples are available than just what’s shown in the picture. This is totally a hands-on class. There are a lot of steps to make a stained glass piece of art. You will learn how to cut the different colors of glass, you choose, into different shapes. Then you’ll grind it to make sure all the pieces fit together like a puzzle. When they all fit together, you’ll burnish copper foil to the outside edges of each piece. Finally you will solder the pieces together, making them into your very own piece of art! After some cleaning and polishing, it will finally be ready to take home with you and hang it! It sounds like a lot, but you can do it and you want to come back for another project! Please wear closed toe shoes, and older clothes you won’t mind getting a little dirty, and/or bring an apron to class. Instructor: Linda Simons Date: January 7th & 14th, 2025 (Tuesdays) Time: 5:00-8:00pm Cost: $100 Artisan Members & Above $110 Basic/Family Members & Non-Members (Supply fee of $40 is included in cost.) Intermediate Wheel Throwing |
Intermediate Wheel Throwing Description: This is an intermediate wheel throwing course. There will be a total of 8 classes over a span of 9 weeks. Students need to have some experience with throwing either on their own or have taken previous classes. It is preferred that students have no trouble with centering, or wall pulling. In this class we will cover making taller, evenwalled pieces, adding throwing designs on the side of our pots, and learning how to control the curve/outward swell of your piece. We will also cover bottlenecks, spouts, and learn how to recover a collapsing or spiraling piece with compression. We will go over the use of calipers, pulling handles, as well as the process of reclaim, wedging, wheel trimming, using a giffin grip, and underglazing and glazing techniques. This will be more of a project based class, where we will focus on learning each different technique listed in each class. If desired, bring your own hand towels and aprons.
