Y'all—

I'm sending this out later than usual which means I got to catch up on the over the top theatrics of Luigi's extradition to NYC. Between the 1st degree felony count/terrorism charges and these orange jumpsuit photo ops, public opinion will only continue to favour Luigi—leading to more fancam edits. 🥲 I didn't notice it at first but an earlier photo that was circulating with Luigi standing in his cell, is actually a photo of him where he was forced to urinate on himself—they publicly released the photo as an attempt to humiliate him. These are just more reasons for folks to hate a corrupt police state.

Regarding his charges, many folks online pointed out that those who took part in the January '21 insurrection were never charged with terrorism, so why are the feds so pressed about Luigi? The ruling class' attempt to warn and keep the working class in line is failing spectacularly. Do they bother to keep tabs on social media?

The 2nd tweet really got me—Luigi dying for the sins of privatized healthcare. But also, are the inmates threading each other's eyebrows? Curious minds would like to know.

random musings—
a collection of random, contemporaneous thoughts. no photos. just vibes.
  • Someone please invite me to the Criterion Closet so I can have my Supermarket Sweep moment. 🛒
  • After I noted that we still don't have enough women and POC creative directors, Bottega Veneta announced Louise Trotter will replace Matthieu Blazy as creative director. Both are great but wonder what was behind the decision. 👀
  • My holiday hot take is that I hate panettone but I hate the revival of panettone even more and it seems I'm not the only one. I could have easily written this Atlantic article, titled "The Luxury Makeover of the Worst Pastry on Earth—How panettone, the once-reviled Italian Christmas treat, became a high-end commodity” Panettone lovers, plead your case! What am I/we missing?

WE'RE watching—
Your Holiday Bed Rot Round-up

Get Millie Black: Knew this would be good when I learned that Marlon James created theseries. You know Marlon James, who wrote, The Book of Night Women, where the lead character is named Lilith. 👀 He created the series and character after his mother, who became a detective in Jamaica in the 1950s when it was rare to see women in this role.

Somebody Somewhere: I had forgotten that I watched season one when this popped up in my recommendations again but just a comedic and wholesome watch all around!

The Agency: Apologies for another cop(aganda) drama (this time CIA) but I couldn't resist the cast: Fassbender, Jodie Smith-Turner, Richard Gere.

Joy: A biographical drama around the story of the world's first in vitro fertilization baby, Louise Brown. But it also explores how the work and contributions of nurse and embryologist Jean Purdy was ignored by the public and scientific community in comparison to her male peers, scientist Dr. Robert Edwards and surgeon Patrick Steptoe. She assisted in the conception of over 500 IVF babies—put some respect on her name! 👶🏻👶🏼👶🏽👶🏾👶🏿

One Hundred Years of Solitude: I'm including One Hundred Years of Solitude and Like Water for Chocolate in this roundup again because both shows are so well-done. Netflix really did their thing with this series. I can only imagine what the budget was but what a beautiful and stunning production.

Like Water for Chocolate: Again, please do watch. The performances, sets, cinematography—magical. 🧚🏽✨🍫

We're TALKING ABOUT—
QNS to the WRLD  THE GLOBAL RUNDOWN
These reports are pages and pages long yet our government is still funding Israel.
A coordinated picket effort across New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles as drivers and warehouse workers at multiple locations around pressed Amazon to recognize their unions.
Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency over the outbreak in California—in just four months, cows in 645 dairies in California have tested positive for H5N1. There's been 61 human cases so be sure to mask up. 😷
A nice read if you've been watching the new series!
The deep-sea cables always boggle my mind. A high-speed fiber optic cable connecting Finland and Germany was cut in mid-November by what was likely an external impact, while a nearby link between Lithuania and Sweden was also damaged. The ship, Yi Peng 3, was in the vicinity of two cables when it happened. 🤿🚢
A lovely coffee table book to add to your collection!

Finding myself listening to older tracks in my playlist like this one by Jorja Smith. The entire album is great but have this track and The One on heavy rotation. Also, I can't believe this is from 6 years ago. 🤯
