Hi First name / friend,

Thanks for responding to my Instagram story about the freelance rates document I found, it really is such a great source of information if you're freelance or planning to be.

Here is my email newsletter that was sent last Friday in all its glory. Every week I send lots of cool bits and pieces for design lovers, so it's great to have you here and part of this little design club!

Let's dive in.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
The 2024 Freelance Rates Report

"What is your day rate?". A question many of us freelance designers get asked. How do we come up with that figure? Are we charging enough? Too little? What about the average in your location?

Working with a day rate can be a tricky one, and it's helpful to know what others are charging. Obviously money is always a personal subject, so it can be difficult to ask someone else how much they charge.

The Good List, a design recruitment agency based in Amsterdam, has just released their creative freelance rates report, covering data from major cities (mainly Europe) and design roles. This PDF is such a handy insight into what people charge, how much experience they have, and where they live.

DESIGN OF THE WEEK
Sucre Restaurant Branding by DutchScot

Now if you know me, I'm a sucker for a bit of gorgeous type, a nice colour palette and leave it at that. (Sometimes I worry my design style isn't fun enough for social algorithms ha)

When I came across the branding for Sucre restaurant by DutchScot - surprisingly, an agency in London and not in the Netherlands -, I knew I had to share it with you all.

The deep oxblood colour too, the colour of the year for me, just looks so great with that clean type.

Do you love it as much as I do?

DESIGN ASSET OF THE WEEK
Adobe Express QR Generator

Okay, I admit this might not be the most exciting free asset to share with you this week, but it sure is a helpful one.

So many times I've used QR code generators online for my designs, only for me to get an email a week later telling me my QR code has expired, a real nightmare if you've printed it on a poster, billboard etc.

Well, I was searching the other day for solutions, and I saw Adobe Express offers a QR generator, and you can even download in SVG format, wahoo! You don't even need a subscription to use it.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK
My first adobe live stream

As mentioned in the intro, I was in the Adobe Munich studio on Thursday, showcasing my branding process. From logo design, typography tips, and even how I share work with clients, all live on their YouTube and Behance channel.

I won't lie, I was a little nervous to start, designing with people watching was a daunting experience, but after a few minutes I really got into it and actually enjoyed myself.

If you want to watch my hour-long stream, take a look below and I'd love to hear your thoughts. Hopefully it will be the first of many to come.

WEBSITE OF THE WEEK
Colour Palettes for designers

Not sure about you, but whenever I'm designing, I always start in black and white, colour really is the last part of my process. It usually works, but sometimes I find I'm out of creative juice by the time I start thinking of colour combinations.

This handy little website has a ton of colour options for you and your designs, so you can quickly try them out and see what works.

You can even save palettes for later, so you always have a handy place to reference when you need to inject some colour into your work.
