Hello and Merry Christmas from Charleston, South Carolina! Welcome back to
Fieldwork, my weekly newsletter. Weekly as of now, that is.
I missed you! There's something special about writing to a little circle of my favorite friends. I can't wait to spend 2025 together.
I've been absent because I've been busy: I stepped down from a job, hunted for a new one, moved 1,000 miles South to stay with my parents for a while, landed (and started) a new job… and thus made 00.000% progress on the Paris book.
Now that the dust has settled, I think my mind is finally catching up with my body, and I'm ready for creative work. And just in time for the new year!
I'm hoping 2025 does bring change and growth, just not as much and not as quickly. I prefer my life changes one or two at a time, like the dwarves walking up to Beorn's hall in The Hobbit. Gandalf was right about the un-expected: it's more manageable in small doses.
So here's to a new year and lots of newsletters. Do you have a newsletter of your own? Shoot me a message and I'll subscribe!
See you soon,
Josh
