God is speaking volumes to me but still in the tiniest ways. I love it. I've been reading through Mark Batterson's Draw the Circle and he mentioned how if we don't pray often, we miss God. We miss what He is whispering to us. But when we do pray often, we see and hear God in everything.
Before I purchased my very first truck, I was completely unaware just how many trucks there were driving by my house every day. But when I started researching trucks, models, etc. I noticed truck after truck. Where had they been all that time to now suddenly be everywhere?
I've been praying more frequently the past few months and it really is incredible that when I'm closer to God, I see Him in everything when before I was blinding myself to Him – cutting myself off.
And just now as I began in on this January Collection portion of my newsletter, I saw and heard God.
We have a ton of bluejays around here. I see a few almost every day. I wondered if maybe there was some sort of symbolism there. I stumbled upon an article written by Reverend Mark H Creech in 2012. It's about how he witnessed a little bluejay fight boldly for his life from the clutches of a hawk.
“Sometimes God's people find themselves in the grip of negative forces far superior to themselves. All hope may seemingly be lost – the end probable – no likely way to recover … Whatever the situation, take a lesson from a bluejay in the talons of a Hawk. Fight, fight, fight, fight, fight - fight no matter how great your foe - fight no matter how hopeless the circumstances seem – fight with every spiritual weapon at your disposal and never give up. For you never know whether or when or how God plans to intercede to supply the blessing, the deliverance, or the victory you seek. One thing is for certain, if you surrender you will be the enemy's lunch.”
I wanted this January Collection to encompass renewal, new beginnings, softness. This past year for Levi and me has been one of the hardest years we've gone through together. We had to move twice, we've had negative bank accounts, we've had stress upon stress. It's been overwhelming and not in a good way.
I'm definitely someone who hopes that a new year can begin a new chapter. New beginnings are refreshing and renewing to me! The first of the month, the beginning of a new year, the beginning of a new week.
Bluejays are fearless and assertive, even in challenging circumstances. I think God is sending these bluejays to me as a reminder not to give up. Keep going. Be bold in my faith, my hope, and in my Savior.
With all of this to say, I asked God to help me show more of Him within my business. I want to glorify Him in what I do, as I'm called to do. It's hard though…I handcraft heirlooms. How can God be shown in that? I think by letting Him lead the way with my work and my collections. Praising Him for the ideas He gives me. And of course sharing these more internal thoughts with you! I don't create just to create. I create because God has blessed me with the talents to do so.
Most of you know that I'm doing two launches next month. All part of my Boldness in Faith Collection, but launching a couple of weeks apart.
First launch will be ear warmers! I had SO many requests to make ear warmers and the yarn I found is just beautiful for them. The second launch with be another beanie line. These will be an Everyday line – lightweight, long, stretchy, and perfect for quick grocery runs or a winter hike.
I can't wait to share these two items with you!
Ear Warmers – January 6th
Everyday Beanies – January 20th
