As the year draws to a close and the magic of Christmas fills the air, we want to take a moment to thank you for being a cherished part of the Old Castle Cottage community. Whether you’ve been with me from the beginning or joined us recently, your presence truly makes our house feel like a home.

The holiday season is in full swing here at the cottage, and we’re embracing all the cozy traditions that make this time of year so special. From twinkling lights, planters and window boxes filled with holiday greens, to the scent of freshly baked cookies wafting from the kitchen, Christmas has truly transformed our little cottage.

holiday home tour continued

We’re delighted to invite you to Part Two of our Christmas Home Tour, where you’ll step into our festively adorned Kitchen and dining space. Here’s a little preview of what awaits:

The Kitchen

This year, we've got for a timeless theme featuring the window draped in garland, bowls of pinecones, and paperwhites from Jackson & Perkins. The fresh bay leaf wreath is my one of my favorites year after year. The smell of Christmas cookies has been wafting from the kitchen all month and I've included my favorite Christmas cookie recipe for Scandinavian Almond Bars here. If you love almond, you will not be disappointed!

The Dining Room

The heart of any holiday gathering! We’ve set the table with our treasured vintage China, passed down through generations, complemented by a centerpiece of fresh greenery, pinecones, Amaryllis and a snowy owl or two  It’s a nod to tradition while celebrating  the whimsy and delight of woodland creatures that put smiles on my Grandchildren’s faces.

You can find all the photos, decorating tips, and stories behind these festive touches in our latest blog post here.

As we reflect on the year gone by, we feel so grateful for the joy of sharing our gardens and home with you. Here’s to a holiday season filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with those who matter most. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Happy gardening!
