A Community-Led Series to Find One’s Center in the New Year
About Threshold: From 12/27 - 01/04 you will receive a daily piece of writing, art or a practice from a trusted esoteric practitioner. Our intention is to help reflect on the year they have had, and plant seeds of intention in 2025. Each of these practitioners is someone who I respect and admire, and is also part of the guest faculty for Emanate: Business School for Mystics.

Dear Keeper of the Threshold
Welcome to the second day of our 9 Days of Ritual.
Today's writing comes to you from my dear friend Maryam Ajayi. Maryam and I met when I had a brick and mortar shop on Graham Avenue. We started chatting when she was trying on some clothes. A few months later we reconnected somehow, and eventually I had a session with her.
In my session, Maryam told me after she left my dressing room that “whatever that was” that happened on that day she was trying on clothes, was very different than the experience of simply talking to a shopkeeper. In less than an hour, she helped me uproot some deep fears about being honest with myself about what I want, and beneath that, an underlying belief that I should never want too much.
I have watched Maryam build incredible experiences, connections, and shifts, all with deep vulnerability, and laughter.
She has a way of cutting to the chase that I think you will enjoy. (That is why I asked her to facilitate a workshop on desire for Emanate.)
Here are some prompts written by Maryam to help you cross the threshold from 2024 to 2025.
CLARITY PROMPTS FOR 2025 from Maryam Ajayi
What you'll need:
A journal & pen or your notes app.
To prepare:
Before you begin, it may help to light a candle or clear your space somehow, either with sacred smoke or imagining golden light everywhere. Imagine your feet connected down into the heart of the earth, and imagine yourself releasing anything that is not truly yours. Take a moment to call back your energy, and to call in your higher self or any supportive energies in your belief system, like guides, guardians, or benevolent energies of nature. Take a moment to thank the land you are on. Intend that what you receive be for your highest good or your heart space.
Don't overthink the writing. Let whatever wants to arise pour through. If you have to scribble nonsense for a while, do that. The point is to let the words flow so your honest desires (big or small) get a chance to be seen, heard, and honored.
The Prompts:
Reflection:
What brought me the most joy, fulfillment, or inspiration in 2024? How did those experiences align with my deepest desires?
Clarity:
Imagining my dreamiest 2025, what do I most desire for myself? How does this vision feel when I am connected with it?
Release:
What patterns, beliefs, or situations from 2024 no longer serve this vision? How might letting go of them create space for something new, something greater?
Action:
What is one aligned step I can take to move closer to my desires in 2025? How can I anchor this intention in a way that feels both grounded and expansive?
Closing the Ritual:
When you are done, set your journal aside. Thank the energies that supported you and release the energies back to the place in this world where they are loved the most.
Consider revisiting what you wrote in 24 hours or at the end of the week to see what resonates, and what you want to shift or clarify.
I hope this ritual gave you some simple clarity about 2024 leading to 2025, and that you are able to find guides and friends who help you reflect on what you really want the way Maryam helped me.
