Welcome to the New Year and a new semester! I hope you had a restful break and took time to reflect. Are you ready to get back into a routine?
New perspectives tend to arise whenever we can “step away” from our lives. Things that filled us with stress or seemed overwhelming at the time, now feel distant and small. I'm sure you can pinpoint a few times last semester when you wished you could have stressed less or let some things go.
One of my favorite rituals for starting a new semester is coming up with a handful of “I will” and “I won't” statements. What do you want more of, and what do you want less of?
How can you make things easier for yourself this semester?
Let's try out some declarations together:
- I will eat breakfast. I won't procrastinate.
- I will go for walks. I won't sign up for too many clubs.
- I will keep up with my planner. I won't stay up past midnight.
- I will set my weekly wellness goal. I won't let other people drain my energy.
- I will go to the library. I won't try to study in my cozy bed.
These statements make me feel nourished, organized, relaxed, spacious, rested, focused, determined, and realistic.
See how fun this can be? Now, it's your turn. What are you willing to do this semester to keep yourself on track, eliminate things that don't matter, and consistently prioritize your well-being? What things will you say no to so that you can say yes to what truly matters?
