2024: A Meow-mentous Year
Image item
As 2024 comes to a close, we're wrapping up the year with some record-breaking stats, a heartwarming story that shows just how much we do (it’s more than trapping cats, we promise!), and a sneak peek of our first fundraiser of the year. Spoiler alert—there will be kittens, because kitten season never ended! It’s been a paws-itively busy year, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

If you’re as excited as we are about the work we’re doing, make a donation to help us continue this important mission into the mew year.

Thanks to your donations, we've been able to help more than 860 cats this year—an increase of 325 cats over 2023! Of course, this also means our expenditures are at an all-time high, making your continuing generosity more crucial than ever.

As demand for our services continues to grow, Alley Cat Project has stepped in to fill critical gaps. With policies at local shelters limiting the intake of stray cats, we’ve worked tirelessly to provide the care, resources, and solutions these cats need—from searches for owners to spay/neuter services, medical care, and adoption.

Unlike organizations with large facilities, our low-overhead, foster-based model allows us to direct nearly every dollar toward the cats themselves. However, with more cats entering our care than ever before, the challenges are growing, and we’re beginning to dream bigger. With your support, we can meet the rising demand and ensure that every cat gets the second chance they deserve.

Sometimes, it’s not just about trapping, neutering, or fostering for adoption—it’s about reuniting families.

When a kind-hearted Seattle resident reached out about two stray cats she had been feeding, we had no idea what we were about to embark on. After trapping the first cat, we discovered she was microchipped. We contacted her owner, who confirmed that Bishop, along with his other cat, Murdoch, had gone missing. To our surprise, he had recently moved to Alaska.

Was the second cat Murdoch? We hoped so! While working on trapping the second cat, Bishop was flown to Alaska to reunite with her owner, thanks to his mom, who still lives in Seattle.
After several days of anticipation, we finally trapped the second cat—Murdoch! With the same support from his mom, she too was reunited with his owner in Alaska!

This heartwarming story is just one example of how we go above and beyond. While we’re known for our TNR and fostering work, our scope goes much further. We’re here for every cat in Seattle who needs help. While the city shelter often doesn’t provide support for lost or stray cats, we fill that gap—offering services and ensuring that every cat has a chance to find their way home.

Help us continue to cover all paws in need this mew year—donate and make a difference in the lives of Seattle's cats.

Join us at family-friendly Ravenna Brewing for our first fundraising cuddle-puddle of the year. Kittens in January? Are you wondering if you read that correctly? Don’t worry, you’re not seeing things—it’s true! While kitten season traditionally wraps up in the Fall and picks up again in the Spring, this year, it just won’t end!
We’ll have kittens to cuddle for a donation, and Ravenna Brewing is generously offering $1 per pint sold to Alley Cat Project. A huge thank you to Ravenna Brewing for their support!

Come for the cuddles, stay for the cause—let’s make this the purr-fect start to the year!
