What is the age / grade range for Young Life?
Young Life camp is available to students who have just completed 9th - 12th grade (or, in other words, rising 10th graders through graduated seniors).
Who will be watching my student while at camp?
Student will be supervised at camp by adults with several different roles:
- Young Life Leaders: Staff & volunteers who come to camp with students from their hometown for the express purpose of spending the week investing in students (Young Life's version of “counselors," but way cooler)
- Program Team: Full-time Young Life staff from across the country working at Lake Champion for the summer as Speakers, Program Team, etc.
- Summer Staff: College-aged volunteers who serve as lifeguards, work in the snackbar, etc.
How many students will be at camp?
Between 300 - 450 students will be at Malibu Club from Young Life areas across the country! Not only will students have the opportunity to bond with other New Canaan teens, but they will experience camp with new friends from all-over.
Are there accommodations for dietary restrictions at camp?
Yes! We communicate dietary restrictions ahead of time to camp to accommodate gluten-free / diary-free / etc. options when needed.
Is technology allowed at camp?
No. Phones, ipads, tablets, etc. (anything with wifi and messaging) are not allowed at camp. Instead, we provide students with the opportunity to be present.
How can I talk with my student at camp?
Students can always be reached at Camp by calling the office and/or their Young Life Leader. Student can also call home on one of the many camp landlines.
What if my student gets sick / hurt?
Camp is staffed each session with a Camp Doctor and EMTs there to help students should they need any medical attention.
