Volume 2, Issue 8
December 31, 2024
Over the weekend, I sent out an email explaining the difference between a mountain climber and a treasure hunter in Bible study. If you missed it, you can read it here.

I wanted to give you some resources to use based on which choice you make. And if you want to try them both before you decide, there’s nothing wrong with that!

My most comprehensive resource for Bible study, and one you can tailor to your season of life is the Bible study workbook. You can download it for free at the button below.

Mountain Climber
If you chose to be a mountain climber and read through the Bible in 2025, the first resource is one I shared last week: A chronological reading plan.

That reading plan will put you reading through Genesis 1-11 and Job 1-9 by the end of the week. As you begin reading through Genesis, you might find the following blog posts helpful.
And when you turn your attention to the book of Job, this blog post might give you some needed insights:
If you go this route,First name / friend, I’d love to hear how it goes. I want to cheer you on as you take on this commitment for the year! Just hit “reply” and let me know.

Treasure Hunter
If you are joining me on a treasure hunt through the book of Hebrews this coming month, this is the game plan:
  • First Reading: Read through the book and take notes as you go about what stands out or is confusing.
  • Second Reading: Reread the book and notice any mentions of God or any member of the Trinity. List any questions you have.
  • Third Reading: Reread a third time in a different translation and circle or mark any repeating words or phrases that repeat two or more times.
  • Fourth Reading: Reread the book in another translation. Have any of your questions been answered? What differences and similarities have you noticed in the different translations you’ve read?
  • Further Readings: Choose your favorite translation and continue to read the book over and over noting anything that stands out.
The goal is to read the book through as many times as possible during your study. Read different translations. Listen to an audio version. Switch things up.

Here is a blog post that discusses the different versions of the Bible:
The book of Hebrews is a letter or an epistle. Here is a blog post that walks you through how to read an epistle.
I will be filling out my worksheet for Hebrews as I go. If you would like your own copy of the worksheet, you can get it at the link below. Eventually, I will have one filled out for each book of the Bible!
If you go this route,First name / friend, let me know what you're learning! I'll be sharing insights in future newsletters and posts.
