Have you ever been struck by the intriguing question: Can animals talk? Do trees speak? It's a thought that might not have crossed your mind, but one reader of All Nature Speaks: Conversations With Pets & Wildlife shared this:
"I've never given it much thought that all living things have their own language. We just need to learn how to listen, and this book will help guide you.”
Her words remind me why I wrote the book, and I am revising and expanding it now.
Think about it: How do you know when your dog isn't feeling right? Or why a horse suddenly refuses to let anyone approach? Communication with animals may seem mysterious, but it's more about connection than words. Could we all learn to better understand the lives that enrich ours?
Listening Beyond Words
In my years of teaching and working with animals, I've met people who can "whisper" to horses, bears, and trees. But here's the real question: Why not all if we can connect with one species? Imagine a universal network connecting every soul like Wi-Fi, but it is ancient and limitless. What if we could tune in to that?
Sometimes, the bond is instant. I've had missing and ill dogs recognize me years after I helped them over the phone through talking with their human friend.. Other times, animals pass me by, uninterested. Why? It might be as simple as scent—dogs have 55 million olfactory receptors, while we have only 5 million. Cats have even more. Yet connection is about more than biology; it's also about intention.
The Impact of Our Choices
What we wear, use, and surround ourselves with matters. Synthetic fragrances, for example, are unregulated in the U.S. and can disrupt the delicate sensory balance of the animals around us. Think of the canary in the coal mine—sensitive to dangers we overlook. Could our everyday choices be creating invisible barriers?
A New Way to Connect
Next time you walk through the woods or spend time with your companion animals, imagine them as family. Set aside the nouns you have used: tree, dog, cat, bird, etc. Know them as a soul that can naturally communicate soul to soul. Quiet your thoughts, and send them mental images or feelings. Then, listen—not with your ears, but with your heart. What unfolds next might just surprise you.
Your experiences are invaluable. How do you connect with the animals or plants in your life? What have they taught you? I'd love to hear your insights.
Let's explore this universal language together.
