Hi First name / love,

 

Happy New Year! How is 2025 landing in your body so far? Are you feeling rested? Ready for new things? Absolutely uninterested in getting out of bed?

 

I had a busy end to 2024, so I've been sleepy and slow-moving since the clock struck midnight on January 1st. Friends keep asking me if I've got any resolutions or goals for the year ahead, and so far the resounding answer has been “… no?” I can't seem to muster the energy to take to my journal or pull a tarot card. I'm simply snoozing from one year into the next.

 

The one image that has come through for 2025 was something that started as a joke last fall. When I launched my new show Pleasure Reading, I said to a few friends that I was just becoming “Five Podcasts in a Trenchcoat" a la this meme.

 

 

At the time it was mostly a joke …. but now that I've launched another new show, I officially do have five active podcasts! I am perhaps just five podcasts in a trenchcoat! 🧥

 

I think this is a funny bit, but it's also related to a deeper intention I'm intuiting for my year ahead – in 2025, I'd like to spend more time creating my own work than producing for others.

 

Running Softer Sounds is a joy, and I love all our clients. But I also miss nurturing my own creative practice. And I've noticed that being focused on a dozen other people's ideas, leaves me very little energy to incubate my own.

 

Rather than being the savvy behind-the-scenes producer on a bunch of podcasts this year, I want to be more of a podcaster myself! Hence five podcasts in a trenchcoat!

 

So in the spirit of stepping into my podcaster-self, please let me introduce you to my current shows below. 👋

 

 

Off the Grid – My most popular pod! This one's for creative business owners exploring life & work beyond social media.

 

Thought of You – My newest show! This is a monthly podcast I cohost with my friend Taylor to chat about what's happening in our lives and on the internet.

 

my tiny tarot practice – A tiny show exploring the tarot card-by-card in 5-10 minute episodes. I've created episodes on all 78 cards in the deck, and now I share occasional tarot check-ins & musings.

 

Pleasure Reading – My new bookish podcast about the pleasure of reading, featuring curated book lists, author rankings, chats with friends and more.

 

The Softer Cast – This one's a podcast advice show where I answer questions from folks who are starting or growing shows of their own.

 

& finally – Emails from Amelia is not quite a podcast, it's just audio recordings of these occasional emails I send you.

 

 

So here goes my year of being 5 podcasts in a trenchcoat! Or rather, my year of really stepping into being a podcaster (not just a producer) – and seeing where that takes me.
