Welcome to the February edition of Pride Center News! This month, please take a look at renovation updates, changes to the board, and the addition of a new group! Thank you to everyone who volunteered in painting the center this past month. Volunteers are the heart of our organization and your contributions help keep the Pride Center a safe welcoming space for our community!

The Pride Center is officially reopen with a fresh new look! Thank you to all of the dedicated volunteers who spent so much time painting and finalizing renovations. This most recent stage of renovations includes a new layout for the center's lobby and a fresh paint job in each room of the center. Take a look below at some of the photos for this project. We welcome you all to stop by in person this month to see the new changes!

Introducing Harvey and Kai:
The Pride Center of New Jersey is excited to announce two newest additions to the board as of the New Year. We welcome Harvey to the role of Youth Director and Kai to the role of Fundraising Director.

Youth Director - Harvest “Harvey” (they/them)
PCNJ Volunteer since 2023
Harvey arrived in New Jersey November 2022 having never set foot in the state—but they already knew ahead of time the local places they wanted to frequent. Ten days later, they strode into the Pride Center of New Jersey for the first time. They began volunteering for PCNJ’s youth program soon after and they haven’t stopped since. During the boring parts of the week, Harvey has a job sitting at a desk sending emails, but whenever that’s over with they can be found outdoors in the Garden State’s many parks, preserves, managed lands, or (of course) at the Pride Center.

Fundraising Director - Kai (they/them)
PCNJ Volunteer since 2024
Kai started volunteering with PCNJ in late 2024 and was elected as the new board member overseeing Fundraising & Grants initiatives. Kai currently works in software and has prior fundraising experiences for small scale initiatives.  They are a tenacious individual and also have volunteer experiences primarily included working with children to provide educational and cultural programs. Kai looks forward to the opportunity to financially support all the wonderful groups and events at PCNJ by applying to grants and supporting fundraising initiatives. Kai hopes to also work with the community and supporting the board in any other capacity they may have.
Please note as of the New Year, monthly Board Meetings are scheduled for the second Thursday of each month. Our monthly meetings are open to the public, and our leadership team welcomes all members of the community to attend.
