greetings from all of us at Good Works with JOY and gratitude!

January 1st marked the start of the 45th year of Good Works!  We started Friday Night Life in 1993 when we invited residents of the Timothy House who were moving out to come back and join us for dinner on Friday. And they came.

 

 

Some groups prepare the meal before they come (some using crock pots) while other groups prepare on site in the kitchen. We ask for groups to arrive at  4 pm. Dinner is served around 5:30.

 

As many of you already know, we have been bringing together people from all walks of life into this community building event (and dinner) every Friday Night since 1993. 

 

We have many open dates in 2025.  Some people prefer to sponsor while we meet inside at The Plains UMC.  Other groups prefer to host during the warmer months (April to October) when we have FNL at the Good Works property.

We need 48 groups a year to sponsor a meal. Would you give this some thought and let us know by email@good-works.net or by calling us at 740.594.3339.

THE VISION OF FRIDAY NIGHT LIFE is to bring different people together who might not normally associate with one another. We seek to cross over the lines of class, culture and race to build a community of HOPE with and for people who may be struggling with isolation, food insecurity and poverty. We desire to create and sustain a safe place where people experience love, feel heard, feel respected and can build  trust and friendships which are life-giving. We have been doing this for 32 years.

Every week, we organize “take-home” food and serve 15-20 families with food donated to Good Works.

Both before and after dinner, we have a team of staff and volunteers who oversee our Kids Club each Friday.
