Membership Renewal Reminder

Dear Members,

As a gentle reminder, membership fees are due by 31 January 2025. Staying up to date with membership fees ensures you continue to enjoy all the benefits of being part of our community, from access to our properties to attending our meets and activities. We understand that January can be financially challenging. To accommodate this, we’re offering a grace period until 15 February 2025 for those who need a little extra time. To help make things easier, we offer a flexible payment option through PayFlex, allowing you to spread the cost over several months.

Your membership is essential not only for enjoying the benefits of being part of the MCSA but also for supporting the club’s mission to explore, discover, connect and protect the mountains we all love.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at admin@jhb.mcsa.org.za or on +27 61461 8259 (WhatsApp). Thank you for your continued support!

Warm regards,
The MCSA Administration Team

ANDREAS DRAXL
Meets Coordinator
The idea behind our meets is to enhance knowledge, gain experience, foster a sense of community, and connect deeply with nature — all while having a fantastic time. In addition, these meets play a crucial role in bringing fresh energy and new members into the club.
To achieve this, my goal is to make it easy, enjoyable, and above all, safe for members to lead meets. I am committed to providing the necessary support, resources, and training to those stepping up to take the lead. Leading or assisting with meets can be incredibly rewarding. If this interests you or you’d like to get involved, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

HIKING, CAMPING & ABSEILNG @ EASTERKLOOF
Due to popular demand, we decided to extend this outing into a two-day event, with many of us camping overnight (by special arrangement). Abseiling the tallest waterfall in the Magaliesberg, especially after all the rain we've had, seemed like a daunting prospect. But what we got instead was a perfect balance: a good flow, accompanied by gentle showers that added to the experience without overwhelming it. To counteract the adrenaline rush of the abseil, we took our time exploring this stunning kloof. Swimming, sliding, jumping, and simply relaxing along the way. It was another fantastic weekend in the great outdoors!

KLOOFING @ GROOTKLOOF
For all those who got scared away by the rain, you truly missed out. We had the best day ever in Grootkloof! I knew we were off to a great start when everyone took the plunge with the cliff jump into the small pool just before the first abseil on Candelabra. Going down Candelabra and Grootkloof in high flow is an entirely different experience – exhilarating, challenging, and absolutely unforgettable.
We’re hoping to organize more of these short-notice advanced meets when conditions are just right. Stay tuned
