Dr. Soma Sengupta is a neurologist, neuro-oncologist, and is fellowship-trained in integrative medicine from the Andrew Weil Integrative Medicine Center. She is a physician-scientist, clinical trialist specializing in brain tumor treatment and research with over 90 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Sengupta’s primary area of translational lab-based research looks to improve patient outcomes for brain tumor patients. This includes individuals with primary brain tumors as well as metastatic brain tumors.
Dr. Sengupta is a recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award presented by the Arnold P Gold Foundation and the Unsung Hero Award presented by Cancer Family Care.
Dr. Sengupta has a successful integrative neuro-oncology group visit group at UNC, where she collaborates integrative medicine trained colleagues: Susan Gaylord (Director of the Integrative Medicine Program and T32 Director at UNC), Amanda Corbett (Assistant Dean, School of Pharmacy), Aisha Chilcoat ND, Denise Spector NP.
In 2025, with the Mayfield Clinic Foundation, she will be starting an integrative neuro-oncology group coaching platform, free for patients and caregivers upon registration.
