Dear Reader,

I am sooooo tired of cold weather!

I'm ready to trade in my wool cap for a straw or canvas hat that provides shade from the warm—very warm, I hope—sun.

 

I missed the era when hats were ubiquitous with purses, gloves, and stockings held up by garter belts. Frankly, I find today's mobile phones to be an unworthy cultural replacement.  
 

One of the reasons I look forward to spring is because I have the best excuse to wear a brimmed hat. My favorite is this one, which is red-striped and made of straw. I got in several years ago, around this time of year, on a day like today: chilly but sunny.
Yet another reason to look forward to spring!
