Proof Positive!
Kalisha Zachery and Kachelle Zachery, founders of WATZS Productions, collaborated with Mica Muir on her first screenplay, underscoring their commitment to financing films by people of color. Through WATZS POCC, they have supported many short stories from emerging Black and minority filmmakers. A notable example is Ifeanyi Awachie, a Nigerian scholar-practitioner based in Atlanta, who directed the award-winning film This Thing Is Not for You (2022), produced by WATZS Productions and recognized at festivals like the New York African Film Festival.

The POCC initiative launched a musical short film, "Candace" (2021) by Candace Coles, as part of their second WATZS POCC effort to create job opportunities for minority creatives in film. Selected participants traveled to Los Angeles for on-set experience and skill demonstration. Additionally, founders Kalisha and Kachelle supported Ashl J. Washington (Atlanta, GA), previously connected through her story submission to WATZS POCC. They proudly served as Associate Producers for her short film "Photosynthesis," emphasizing the importance of funding minority creatives.

We are excited to welcome writer and director Mica Muir to this esteemed group of filmmakers with proof of concept. Mica, Based in Brooklyn, NY, is a talented artist and the recipient of our 2022 WATZS POCC (People of Color Creative) writing initiative!

Below, you can view the trailer for her short film, “Found”!
