Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with
Real (smart) Budgets

Sunday, January 26, 2024
Hello First name / friend,

We’re gearing up for a kitchen renovation in March, and I’ve been deep in the world of kitchens—working with a designer, picking out finishes, and making what feels like a million decisions.

Honestly, it’s overwhelming with so many options out there. Luckily, working with a pro has been a game-changer. I trust her so much that when she asks, ‘What do you want to do here?’ my go-to response is, ‘What would you do?’ and then I just do that. 😂

This is not my area of expertise, and it’s easy to get lost in the weeds. Thankfully, I also called in my friend Pam Sathers of i pick paint color for advice on finishes. Her insights saved me from some costly mistakes—like a ‘fun’ tile choice that, as she wisely pointed out, "isn't what the house needs”. She reminded me that keeping some elements simple allows the ‘fun’ to shine through in other, more intentional, timeless ways and stays true to the character of the house. I just found this reel Pam made reinforcing this exact concept…so well.

It got me thinking about how similar this is to what I do as a wardrobe stylist. There’s such a fine line between ‘fun’ and good design and style—and sometimes, simplicity is what makes everything work. In both home design and personal style, plain doesn’t have to mean boring, and the right balance is key.

I'm here to help (with your wardrobe, that is)…For your home, consult a great design professional like Pam. 👍🏼

This time of year, so many of my clients tell me they’re in a rut. They hate their clothes, they dread getting dressed. This can make them fall into the trap of doom scrolling and impulse shopping – the kiss of death for your wardrobe.

What we don’t realize is that this rut isn’t just about clothes. It can spill into other areas of our lives—our habits, our productivity, even our health and wellness.

But here’s the good news: We can break the cycle. NO shopping required.

Here are 3 simple steps we can all take right now:

1️⃣ First, clean out your closet. Get rid of the visual clutter. Trust me, you’ll feel lighter immediately. You can't wish it away…you have to roll up your sleeves and do it. #toughlove 😘

2️⃣ Second, over the next week, challenge yourself to wear pieces you haven’t touched in weeks—or months. You know, the ones you overlook but can’t quite bring yourself to get rid of? Let them earn their place in your wardrobe or show you it’s time to let them go.

3️⃣ And third, let’s talk about building a habit: #justgetdressed. That’s it. Practice getting dressed—fully dressed—for the next five days. Shoes, accessories, the whole deal. Even if you’re staying home. Cute athleisure works once in a while, but mix it up! Pants with a button and zipper? They keep us honest. 😉

If this feels hard, don’t worry. I can help—easily and affordably.  Here are some resources that help you get started.

Let’s kick this rut together—you’ve got this!”
Your closet should inspire you, not weigh you down—but too often, it stirs up guilt, overwhelm, or frustration instead. You deserve better. Let’s turn that around together, and I’ll show you how to make it happen!
Note: If you are a past purchaser of the Closet Edit Bootcamp and want to be included in this special round, just hit reply to the message and let me know I'll add you!
If you're a member of the Winter Style System, you already have access to this planner (find it under “featured posts” in the private Facebook group).

Not a member? No problem! These 21 outfit prompts (with styling tips and links) are your daily dose of inspiration, making it simple to #justgetdressed using what’s already in your closet—no shopping required.

I do this for a living (and create the prompts myself) – and even I rely on them every day - and they help me get dressed every day in 2-3 minutes. ✅

Having a done-for-you formula means you can skip the guesswork, open your closet, and pull together an outfit that works for whatever your day has in store.
