Hello hello, Camper!

Welcome back to Seek + Source Winter Camp First name / friend

Last week, we focused on getting our files production-ready, and now it’s time for one of the most exciting moments in the sourcing journey: receiving and evaluating your first sample.  🎁

This is a big milestone. 🏆 It’s when all your planning, creativity, and hard work start to take shape.

Let’s make the most of it!

Week 7: Receiving & Evaluating Your Sample

When that first sample arrives, it’s like unwrapping a gift filled with excitement and anticipation.

Here’s what I focus on when evaluating samples for my oven mitts and pot holders (pinch me.. check the samples below!):

1. Quality: I inspect the materials and construction. Does it feel durable? Are there any flaws or inconsistencies?

2. Color and Printing: Vibrant, accurate colors are essential for my brand identity. I make sure the colors match my expectations, and the printing is crisp and clean.  ✅

3. Functionality: I test their intended use for kitchen products like these. Are they heat-resistant? Do they fit comfortably in my hand?

4. Customizations: If I’ve requested specific features, such as unique stitching or patterns, I check to make sure the details are exactly as I envisioned.

I take precise notes and photos to show the manufacturer if something doesn't meet expectations. Most manufacturers are happy to address concerns and make adjustments.

Campfire Story: My First Sample Arrival

When I started sourcing tea towels, I knew the color would make or break my brand. Samples allowed me to compare manufacturers and find the one that delivered vibrant, true-to-design colors.

That attention to detail made all the difference in creating a product that stood out.

I'm using the same approach with my oven mitts and pot holders. Testing quality, printing, and functionality before committing to a full order. The process may take time, but it ensures the final product is something I’m proud to put my name on.

Next Week: We’ll take another exciting step: placing a full order. It’s a big moment, and I’ll guide you through it step-by-step so you can do it confidently.

Until then, stay cozy and enjoy the magic of seeing your ideas come to life!
