Hi First name / friend,

 

I recently saw a funny meme saying that 2025 will begin on February 1, and January was a trial month. This literally made me laugh out loud! I would also add “Yes, and where do I go to cancel?” 

 

OK friends, not everything has been bad or as apocalyptic as the world wants us to believe. I often have to remind myself to pause, look up (like physically look up into the sky and hills to notice how beautiful and vast God's creation is) and take a deep breath. And restore some joy back into my soul. 

 

At our co-op, there were some special moments to highlight, this time with regards to mother culture. At the beginning, we have the students take turns sharing a recitation, and I decided that I wanted to share a poem too when it was our boys' turn, because why not? Mamas can recite too! It was a lovely poem called Until I saw the Sea by Lilian Moore. Another mom joined in on the watercolor lesson as she sat next to her daughter and felt an easing of her soul as she slowed down to enjoy this activity. I loved how we were able to engage for our own learning and growth!

Also, if you caught my update in the last email, I took some time to reconfigure what the future of livingwithcharlotte.com will look like, and how best to serve the CM community at large. I'm thankful for many of your insights, guidance, and encouragement. I'm very excited to share with you the latest changes soon once I put the finishing touches on the back end! As always, feel free to reply to this email if you have anything you'd like to share, I read every response!

 

Part of my goal with LwC is to make finding Charlotte Mason resources that fit a diversity of contexts much easier than doing a Google search or poring over forums and social media posts. The added bonus is being able to offer discounts on any curriculum-related products, especially through affiliate programs so commissions can go towards covering the maintenance costs of the website! In other news, my older boy will be making his humble debut this Tuesday in his first musical theatre production of James and the Giant Peach. It has been such a learning experience for our whole family, embarking on this journey together with him, and we have been so tickled to see a whole new side of him that has come out. It made me realize how much more there is to him than what I currently know (and have experienced) of him today. He has demonstrated dedication, a growth mindset, and the sheer joy of being caught up in something that is pure fun and bigger than himself. He is usually pretty shy and reserved and it takes awhile for him to open up, but his personality has taken on more boldness and carefreeness that I haven't seen. Our family can't wait to cheer him on!
