I was so excited!

I was so excited about a package coming last weekend that I put together a meal plan.

This was a big deal.

Because I don't meal plan.

I mean, I know, in general, what I'm having for dinners in the week ahead. But I also pretty much wing it.

As pig farmers, we have freezers full of all the cuts of pork, as well as lots of ground meat, and it's pretty easy to just grab something good out of the freezer at lunch time and it'll be thawed for dinner.

It's truly amazing to pull pasture-raised meat, that I know came from happy animals who were fed well, that I can pull out of my freezer and whip up for dinner.

I hate saying “no”

So I've been looking for quite a while for a small family farm that I could recommend to you. So many of you ask if we ship our meat across the country and I hate saying no, but we aren't set up to do that and probably never will be. We just don't have the resources.

But last week I made a meal plan. Because I wanted to share with it you. To celebrate…

To celebrate an amazing new platform that's connecting folks like us, who care about where our food comes from, directly to regenerative farmers in the midwest.

This platform that is the very reason I received the most exciting package ever this weekend.

I can't tell you how excited I was to open that box… A box filled with frozen meat, shipped to me from small regenerative farms who raised the animals right, fed them well, and then provided the best meat possible for our family.

And I've opened the freezer just to peek at those gorgeous meat options I have for this week multiple times just this morning.

So this brings me back to that meal plan… I wanted to treat you for Valentine's Day…

I personally am not a fan of flowers or chocolates for Valentine's, especially when they're so marked up in prices that the would cost MORE than a box full of meat for dinners all week.

So I have a gift for you!

This is a Game Changer!
A podcast episode all about this new platform & how it works dropped this morning.

I had the privilege of chatting with Christian Ebersol about his transformation from Wall Street to regenerative farming, and his efforts to co-found 99 Counties.

This can heal our broken food system.
I'm hoping that this platform is as much of a game changer for YOUR family as it's already been for mine.

btw, because some of you have asked for this (and because I don't want you to miss out on all the life-changing and encouraging things going on every week on the podcast), I'm going to start sending out a quick email summary of each new episode, like this one, every Monday.

This Week's Episode
This episode will give you new insight into small, regenerative family farming across the midwest.

Meet farmers who are doing things right and producing the best meats for family tables across America, even in the face of almost insurmountable challenges facing our farmers today.

From the impact of government subsidies on farming practices, to the power of consumer choices in driving change, this episode is a meaty one. Join me and Christian Ebersol, Co-Founder & CEO of 99 Counties, as we dive into the ways we can break the cycle of commoditized agriculture & why we need to.

Some Takeaways
  • Regenerative agriculture focuses on regenerating the land, rather than extracting from it.
  • Our current big ag system is heavily influenced by government subsidies.
  • Small family farms are crucial for sustainable food systems.
  • How consumers can influence farming practices.
  • The many obstacles farmers face transitioning to regenerative practices.
  • Innovative thinking that's needed to break the cycle of commoditized agriculture.
