Public Lands & National Parks –
Why It Matters & How We Can Take Action
what we can do!

Hey friend!

I don’t usually send emails like this, but I can’t stay quiet. Our public lands—the places where so many of us have exchanged vows, felt deeply connected to nature, and celebrated love—are at risk.

Right now, Wyoming’s SJ2 bill is pushing for state control over federal lands—including Grand Teton National Park. If this passes through the Wyoming House, it could set a dangerous precedent, making it easier for states to take over other national parks. And history has shown us that when this happens, public access shrinks, protections weaken, and wild spaces get sold off to private interests.

Why This Matters for Elopements & Our Public Lands
I’m looking forward to the incredible elopements I have lined up this year—from Grand Teton to Acadia, Utah, and beyond. But the truth is, if we don’t stand up for these places now, we could lose access to them in the future. Fewer locations to elope, more restrictions, and more commercial development in places that should remain wild.

And it’s not just Grand Teton—national parks across the country are facing serious threats. From funding cuts to development projects that prioritize profit over conservation, we have to fight to keep these places protected.

What You Can Do Right Now
📩 EMAIL WYOMING REPRESENTATIVES
Tell them to vote NO on SJ2—this bill still needs to pass through the Wyoming House before it reaches Congress. Your voice matters, whether you’re a resident or a visitor.
📍 Find Wyoming Representatives Here:

📢 CONTACT FEDERAL REPRESENTATIVES
Since this is a push to transfer federal lands, we need to make sure our senators and representatives know we oppose land transfers and privatization of national parks.
📍 Find your elected officials here: USA.gov Elected Officials

🛑 SIGN PETITIONS TO PROTECT PUBLIC LANDS
🌎 SPREAD THE WORD
Most people don’t even realize this is happening. Share this with your friends, outdoor groups, adventure communities, and fellow elopement couples. The more people who know, the harder it is for these decisions to go unnoticed.

🔥 SUPPORT CONSERVATION & ETHICAL TRAVEL
  • Donate to organizations actively fighting against land transfers (NPCA, The Wilderness Society)
  • Support businesses that invest in conservation (Patagonia, REI)
  • Be mindful of who you book when planning elopements—choosing vendors and locations that prioritize sustainability makes a difference
Why This Is Personal to Me
I’ve spent my career photographing wild, intimate, and deeply meaningful elopements in some of the most stunning landscapes in the world. These places aren’t just backdrops—they hold memories, stories, and energy that deserve to be protected.

I know we all have so much going on, but if we don’t take action now, we risk losing these landscapes forever.

I’ll keep fighting—contacting representatives, raising awareness, and using my voice where I can. If this resonates with you, please take a moment to send an email, sign a petition, or share this with someone who cares. Every action matters.
