Iām thrilled to share that last month I was featured in Interior Design Magazine in an article entitled, ā10 Questions with Eliza Redmannā!! Quite honestly the whole thing has me pinching myself asking ā is this REAL?? |

See what I had to say by clicking the button below: |

This feature feels like such a massive accomplishment - absolutely a dream come true. Iām so grateful to Carlene for working with me on this piece last fall, and I'm thrilled by how it turned out! |
Side note: I was curious to discover in which order they featured my provided images ā Itās always interesting to behold othersā perception of and preference for my work. |

Iām writing this newsletter hot off the completion of my very first acoustic product installation of the new Folded Poetry line with Unika Vaev! |
I managed the entire installation by myself by referencing the design on my laptop and using a nail gun to mount the shapes. It was super easy to hide the small nail heads within the crevices of the product. This was my first time using a nail gun and the whole process went super smoothly! |
The installation took place at ReCity, a co-working space fostering connections for and between local community non-profits. The work adorns their event space which has regular weekly traffic from church services, yoga classes, weddings, and more. |
I played music during the entire installation and after it was complete I could already perceive the sound dampening which had taken effect. |
Honestly the most difficult part about the installation was trying to master the timer feature on my phone camera to snap a half-way decent photo of myself with the final product (bloopers reel below) š
The struggle was real. I digress. |

In January we wrapped up production for a series entitled āCheckmateā consisting of three Queenās Gambit folded paper artworks for Deerfield Management. My artist statement about the series is below: |
āLargely disconnected from the outer world during the deep pandemic, I drew the inspiration for this piece from a background pattern which I spotted during one of final scenes of the Netflix series titled 'The Queen's Gambit' where the main character steps into her power and takes on her chess rival. I was attracted to the various fields of color which formed abstract hexagons. I translated the pattern into three-dimensionality to explore form, light, line and shadow of a variety of hexagonal shapes which I then compiled to create the composition before you. The artwork represents bravery and commemorates the courage it takes to meet life's challenges head on.ā |
I narrowly escaped utter tragedy when, as I was loading these pieces into the car for delivery to the art courier, Turbo (the gentle and sweet pup) eagerly followed the artwork into the car and trampled all over one of the pure white pieces with muddy paws š±š±š± |
Fortunately we were able to replace the damaged paper shapes and get the piece totally cleaned up and like new in no time. The before and after clean-up is shown above! (PHEW) |

This commission was brought to me by ArtLifting - a wonderful organization with which I work closely that champions artists who have been impacted by homelessness or disability. Click the buttons below to learn more about ArtLifting and how their mission applies to me. |

You've probably noticed that I've been speaking in the plural regarding this recent project. Iād like to introduce you to Marissa! (shown with me above, smiling after we successfully delivered the Queen's Gambit pieces to Durham Pack and Ship for courier to Atlanta!) Marissa is my friend local to Durham, NC who I met through our mutual love of rollerblading! She is a UNC business management graduate who was a SUPER STAR / god-send who stepped in to help me with ornament sales at the end of last year. |
Marissa assisted me in the production of these three pieces and will be staying on as my Folded Poetry Studio Manager! I canāt tell you how wonderful it is to be working as a team to amplify the impact and mission of my artwork and acoustic endeavors, which Iāve recently defined for a fellowship application as, āincreasing awareness of invisible disabilities and seeking to resolve accessibility barriers which accompany them.ā |
Iām finally beginning to feel myself after hitting total burnout at the end of last year as I closed out my final ornament sales. My partner Mikie and myself traveled to New Mexico for a special āChristmacationā in Santa Fe. We had one lovely day exploring before I came down with the notorious stomach bug so violently that it landed me in the Santa Fe emergency room from 1-5am on Christmas morning. |
Fortunately I *mostly* bounced back enough for us to follow through on our skiing and snowboarding plans for December 26th. At the end of our mountain day Mikie took a nasty fall from which he suffered a concussion and broke his collarbone. |
The fates were not kind to us on this trip⦠What was supposed to consist of relaxing and recovering ended up being a truncated excursion tainted by two ER visits, a 3-day (26.5 total hour) drive from New Mexico back to North Carolina which I took on single-handedly, as well as a collarbone surgery and transition to temporary disability for my partner. |
It took most of January and lots of chill nights staying in for me to begin to feel like myself again. As some of you know, weāve been considering relocating from North Carolina to somewhere out west, and we planned this trip to see what New Mexico had to offer us. Needless to say the universe slammed the door HARD on Santa Fe as a potential relocation option. |
(Honestly, I got the message after my stomach illness and ER visit, the collarbone break / concussion was totally unnecessary in my opinion.) |
That's all for now friends! Thank you so much for your continued interest in my work! |
