Intentional spaces for community engagement |

Hello First name / friend, It was a snow day today and while school was out, I appreciate my own flexibility as a mompreneur to spend time with my 10-year old daughter. I was tickled pink when she presented me with her rendition of sugar on snow (snow, maple syrup, and pickles…sans donut this time) while I was on a Zoom meeting. I also know that snow days can be overwhelming and unexpected for working parents with a full schedule; so I am wishing you a good night's rest after today's homebound experience. Speaking of comfy experiences, let's talk about the newly launched Barre Social Club. Located at 105 N. Main Street, Suite 102 in downtown Barre City, Cat and Nick Allen opened a unique coworking and event space for people in Central Vermont to get out of their homes to work and/or intentionally engage in fun community activities such as their Silent Book Club, dance, or Tech? No Tuesday. When I visited in late 2024, it was a former bike shop that was taken down to the studs with a major renovation underway and the vision that Cat shared of the space motivated us to organize a Biz Buzz Soirée for 2025. On Monday night, we hosted 20 womenpreneurs in their classy and cozy event space. Cat arranged an amazing charcuterie board along with an excellent wine and beer selection at their newly licensed bar. Most attendees commented that the meetup gave them the excuse to check the space out while also connecting with womenpreneurs in the area. So grateful for these opportunities to highlight new businesses and point people to new venues to host their own events. Thank you Cat and Nick! |

The Better Selves Fellowship is a week of care and support for BIPOC leaders and their allies working for environmental and social change. It’s a chance to rest, replenish, network with others, take risks and go deeper. It propels you to go further with the change work that matters most to you and your communities. This fellowship is about restoring and building people power in a time when people power is essential for liberation and health. All Fellows will be based in the Northeast because we believe that is the geography in which they and we at Knoll Farm can be in a reciprocal relationship. Note from Mieko: I highly recommend this fellowship. I attended in the summer of 2017 as a Better Selves Fellow and it was in this space where I developed the core values and intent of Vermont Womenpreneurs.
