Mariona Miret is an activist dedicated to the revitalisation of the world's endangered languages. She holds a degree in Catalan and Occitan Languageand Literature (University of Lleida) and a Master’s in International Relations (IBEI). Her experience living on an island with a language on the brink of extinction, Sardinia, left a profound impact on her. Since then, she has devoted herself to the defense of Europe’s minoritised languages, and especially OCCITAN.
She works at the Department of Language Policy of the Government of Catalonia and represents the international sector of Chambra d’Òc (Italy), where she co-organises the Ostana Prize. Writings in Mother Tongues festival. She is also a translator specialising in Aranese Occitan.
Her vocation now focuses on bringing people’s AWARENESS to language: to our mother tongue, and to the emotions and sensations that define our relationship with it. In a world where linguistic emotions are often taboo, embracing them is key to discovering who we truly are, what we want, and finding serenity along the way. She is the creator of the project Dolor de llengua (Language grief), which includes initiatives such as the retreats Cuidar l’activisme (2023) and Alquímia. Amor i dolor de llengua (2024), as well as the poetry recitation Grieving the loss of my language. She is a dancer, currently training in Somatic and Movement Therapy at the Institut Gestalt in Barcelona to integrate body and language in her work.
Mariona Miret és una activista que treballa per a la revitalització lingüística de les llengües amenaçades del món. Graduada en Filologia Catalana i Occitana (Universitat de Lleida) i amb un Màster en Relacions Internacionals (IBEI). L'experiència de viure en una illa amb un idioma a prop de l’extinció, Sardenya, la va marcar profundament. Des de llavors, s’ha dedicat a la defensa de les llengües minoritzades d’Europa, i especialment l'OCCITÀ.
Treballa al Departament de Política Lingüística de la Generalitat de Catalunya i representa el Sector Internacional de la Chambra d’Òc (Piemont, Itàlia), on és coorganitzadora del festival Premio Ostana. Scritture in lingua madre. És traductora especialitzada en occità aranès.
La seva vocació s’enfoca ara en portar la CONSCIÈNCIA de les persones cap a la llengua: la llengua mare, i cap a les emocions i sensacions que defineixen la relació amb ella. En un món on les emocions lingüístiques sovint són tabú, cal abraçar-les per descobrir qui som realment, què volem i trobar serenitat en el camí. És creadora del projecte Dolor de llengua, amb iniciatives com els retirs “Cuidar l’activisme” (2023) i “Alquímia. Amor i dolor de llengua” (2024), així com el recital “El dol de perdre la meva llengua”. Ballarina, s’està formant en Teràpia corporal i moviment a l’Institut Gestalt (Barcelona) per integrar cos i llengua en el seu acompanyament.
