Here is this week's Online Marketing Hack…

It's all about the numbers!

 

What does that mean? It's never been more important to track and think about the numbers on your Social Accounts.

 

The truth is it always has been! but more so than ever, previously you could bank ‘in the more reactions you create the more views!’ So you could create content based on trying to create reaction alone (think views, clicks, shares, saves, time spent watching etc.).

 

But, we are seeing more and more that just because you receive likes it doesn't necessarily mean more views anymore. These 2 post results from Instagram below show that even with less likes the views are almost identical, which goes against the typical trend.

 

 

So now, you have to work up a level! 

 

You would have already noticed that for Instagram for example, it's not who follows you but who you follow that dictates where you are placed. The algorithm takes your search history and places you with similar accounts. 

 

So you could be damaging your own account, because maybe in an evening you use your business account to check in with friends and follow personal influencers, instead of following and reacting to people who could buy your products and services. Instagram thinks (because of your behaviour) your account need to be placed with ‘Love Island’ accounts for example and not the ‘potential business’ accounts you'd actually prefer.

 

So, with that in mind, the results of the example above isn't just about the post content but because Instagram has run out of places to place these posts, it needs to find people interested in the topic but is likely to have run dry in its results (we know that's a lot to take in, so please re-read over and over).
