February | Long Slow Goodbye

Hello First name / folks,,

February has never been my favourite month. I love the quiet magic of midwinter but by this point in the season, I am usually craving a change. A change of coat, a change of temperature and a change of pace

On what feels like day 8,937,264 of bitter cold - it’s hard to have faith that anything will ever bloom again, including me. Yet every year, without fail, spring comes. Renewal is just around the corner.

This month is the time to dig deep into our reserves and hang in there for just a little longer. Seek out warmth in whatever form it takes and soak up every golden sliver of sunshine that slides in amongst the grey.

The Bright One

For this month's quick dip into seasonal folklore and myth, let's talk about Brigid, the bright one - the daughter of the Dagda, a prominent deity in Gaelic mythology and a goddess of many talents.

Brigid's known as a patroness of healing, poetry, and smithcraft—all representing practical and inspired wisdom and is associated with cycles and change, particularly now - around Imbolc and the end of winter, where she symbolises healing, renewal, and new life.

Her many facets really speak to us. Think about it: in our busy lives, her connection to healing, creativity, and home offers a sense of stability and sparks our imagination. And her link to cycles and change is a gentle reminder of life's natural rhythms, urging us to embrace change when it comes and find fresh starts.

Brigid's stories and symbols are full of wisdom that helps us navigate life's ups and downs. They remind us to nurture our inner spark, let our creativity flow, and stay connected to the natural world around us. If you're interested in getting to know Brigid a little better - I've linked an interesting read here

It can feel frustrating as we wait for that seasonal shift into Spring, but this month has plenty of sweetness to give and there is still much beauty to be found in the ebb and flow of winter as it begins a slow exit…
