Hey Muses! Happy February!

A few years ago, I used the dimensions of wellness as a blueprint for my year's intentions and goals. This year, I did the same and also included both a guiding bible verse (Joshua 1:9) and reminders to myself. My two favorite reminders are:
  1. Reframe how I'm speaking to myself.
  2. Don't let anyone steal your joy.
A few things I'm looking forward to:
  • Getting involved with some mommy groups (social)
  • Returning to church (spiritual)
  • Getting back to consistent exercise and hikes (physical)
  • Adding to my retirement account (financial)
Thinking about my goals like this makes them less daunting and not as "resolutions for the new year," but intentions and important things for my health, well-being and happiness.

What are you saying or no longer saying to yourself this year?
What things are you adding or trying to leaving?

I know January or a Monday or a new month is a great time to *start*, but honestly, you can start any day and any time. It's almost March. Harmony is 5 months. I'm 35 +2months. It's Thursday and I'm just now starting for the year. AND- it's totally fine.

PS: you can read my goals below. I'm sharing for accountability and because I really love framing them like this.

 Wellness Corner

Creative Wellness: Earlier this month I went to the “The Time is Now” exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It was beautifully curated and I was introduced to new artists. The photo below is one of my favorite pieces in the exhibit. One thing I'm planning to do this year is visit museums with Harmony. I've done two so far and maybe I can do one a month. If you have a museum suggestion, let me know.

Physical Wellness: I made the Butterbean Curry last month-it was different, but good. Shoutout to those of tried it and let me know! This month let's talk about sleep. Sleep health refers to the quality and quantity of sleep. Maintaining (or improving) your sleep health improves both mental and physical health. The same way you work or strive to work on heart health, brain health, etc add sleep health as something that needs your attention. And because I haven't had a full night's sleep since August, get your ZzzZz for me.  😩😩

Environmental + Financial Wellness: 10 Better Places to Buy from Instead of Target & Walmart. I wasn't sure where to put this, but with the rollback of DEI initiatives at so many companies, and with the call for a boycott of Target, figuring out where to spend your money to match your values is challenging. I am *trying* to shop at the actual stores and not the amazon stores: ie Burts Bees, Gerber, etc. Yes it's less convenient and quick, but perhaps it's making a small difference. Shop local. Shop more sustainably. ALSO, there's a call to have a 24 hour Economic Blackout tomorrow 2.28 and another 4.18. why? To protest economic inequality, continued high costs of living and DEI rollbacks. I'm participating.

Emotional + Mental Wellness: Do you have to feel and confront your emotions as soon as they hit? Or is it better to take a minute and distance yourself then come back and address? Psychologist and Neuroscientist Ethan Kross addresses that in this podcast/article from NPR. He provides useful tools to managing emotions.
