Nice to spend a few moments with you First name / friend,

I hope you have been enjoying March’s newsletters and the resilience-building theme. If you missed any, you can revisit them here:

Once we have built our tolerance to discomfort, it’s time to test it.

Let me be clear: By this, I do not mean have a cigarette if you are quitting smoking, text your ex if you are breaking toxic relationship patterns, or anything of the kind—that is not a test but a trap.

The kind of test I speak of here is the kind where you would have once felt uncomfortable, where limiting beliefs would have crept in and stopped you from doing the thing you wanted to do. Except this time, you have built up the comfort with discomfort—resilience.

Here’s how you can put it into practice:

Focus. What’s your goal? Why is it worth a little discomfort?

Start Small. It often helps to take a few baby steps first.

Build in Increments. Take a bigger step with a little more discomfort to build tolerance.

Reframe Setbacks. Multiple attempts are often required as new skills develop.

Adopt an Attitude of Gratitude. What did you learn from this experience?

Keep Showing Up. Most importantly—keep at it until it feels natural.
