Dear First name / Friend of Harambee Arts,

At Harambee Arts we believe in the healing power of community. Now more than ever, we are committed to building a world where every person is seen, heard, and supported. At Harambee Arts Nepal we focus on supporting survivors of human trafficking and gender-based violence.

We invite you to witness the inspiring progress of our Nepal Program. We have created spaces where all expression is valued, healing begins—and hope takes root.

Led by trafficking survivors and rooted in Expressive Arts Therapy, our team brings our gentle methodology to residents of safe houses and to our local partners. Together we are working to end human trafficking and build a world free of gender violence.

Dhanyabad,

Since 2012, Harambee Arts Nepal has been a beacon of resilience and transformation.

What makes this work so powerful? It’s the leaders—women with lived experience who have turned their pain into purpose.

Today, we’d love for you to meet three of our co-facilitators who are currently being mentored into full-time staff roles:

Sanam Chaudary
"There was a time when I had lost all hope. My past was filled with pain and life felt meaningless. But through Harambee Arts, I began to rediscover my identity and worth. Today, I walk a powerful and transformative journey—as a proud co-facilitator helping others heal."
Nisha Magar
"I live in a slum area of Chitwan where life is often difficult and unsafe. But I’m proud to call myself a 'Change Maker.' Through Harambee Arts, I not only learned to love myself for the first time, but I found my voice to lead my community in child protection and anti-trafficking efforts."
Sumina Bhattari
"When I was overwhelmed with stress and anxiety, Harambee Arts became my lifeline. Painting and writing helped me express what I couldn’t say aloud. I went from feeling aggressive and lost to finding peace and purpose. Healing, I’ve learned, isn’t always about fixing—it’s about feeling, expressing, and growing."

We are proud to partner with local organizations to amplify the impact of this work, including:
ABC NEPAL: Advocating for women’s rights and fighting human trafficking
Shakti Samuha Safe Home:
A shelter for survivors of trafficking
Shakti Samuha Halfway Home:
Long-term care for survivors
WOFOWON:
Promoting the rights of women in the entertainment sector
DOWN SYDROME SOCIETY OF NEPAl: Supporting children with neurological needs
CHITWAN SINGLE WOMEN'S GROUP:
Empowering single women and their families
We are honored to walk alongside these remarkable women and organizations as we build a more just, compassionate world!

“I have actually learned to love myself at my advanced age within this program. Before, I wasn’t aware of that in my life."
