Welcome to KNITSONIIK hand stamped journal with colourful markers and knitting laid on desk

Hi First name / dear reader,

How are you my friend?

Welcome to my new look newsletter - let me know what you think.
My last email to you was so well-received that I'm inspired to lavish more love and attention here - your replies blew me away, thank you. Clearly, more love letters are needed.

Here in St. Leonards I've been in a tender mood, writing from the heart on my blog, discovering the joy that is a sunrise beach dance, and clearing the way to launch and celebrate a design from 2023.

Felix is wearing big hoop earrings and smiling; the light is golden sunset light, and she wears a wondrous colourwork hat

In Knitting News, this is my Oddventure hat - an Adventure in Oddments (see what I did there?). Oddventure is a great stash-buster and a super way to explore colour interactions using odds and ends of fingering-weight yarn.

It’s worked using one plain Main Colour (MC) throughout, and a Contrasting Magic Ball (CMB) that you’ll make by joining oddments together. As well as instructions and charts for making the hat this pattern includes:
  • Instructions on making Magic Yarn Balls and creating gradients from yarn oddments in your stash.
  • A gauge table that enables you to get the perfect fit for your hat by changing needle sizes.
  • Detailed instructions on working a gauge swatch.
Get it on Ravelry or in my online shop, and remember your subscriber discount for 10% off: 10FORMYSUBSCRIBERS

In Sonic News, you can hear me speaking about sheep, wool, sounds and feminism in episode 99 of Girls Twiddling Knobs. This podcast is produced right here in Hastings by my amazing multi-talented friend Isobel Anderson. GTK is an enabling, feminist tour de force centred on women's experiences of audio production and sonic creativity.

I was also interviewed by Lindsay for her inspiring podcast Making Stitches. Find me in episode 82. Making Stitches is for craft lovers and explores the creative process through the journeys and work of fibre artists. We chatted about disability, celebrating daily life, and playing with colour.

It was an honour to be interviewed by these fantastic audio producers, thanks for having KNITSONIK!

In Other News…

Knit Stars are doing something fun this year to celebrate the launch of Knit Stars Season 10. If you like prizes and guessing games, head here to download a special guessing game form to submit your guesses on who the 15 Stars will be for Season 10.

To play, you just have to guess who the stars are. The person who guesses the most right answers will win a giant prize bundle of yarn + notions worth over $1300.

And…

If you live in the UK, set a phone reminder right now for 15:45 Thursday March 6th to go straight to BBC One at that time to see Jeanette Sloan, MBE, wonderful human being, fantastic knitwear and crochet designer, and good friend of mine mentoring contestants on episode 4 series 3 of Make it to Market.

I'm so excited, aren't you? Bring popcorn.

Please take the most wonderful gentle care of yourself and your loved-ones, find the joy wherever you can and, as ever, know how grateful I am for your support for me and my work.

Thanks for being here,
Love from St. Leonards,
Felix x
