THAT'S A WRAP!
Goodbye February.

February is done ✅ We're already heading into the second week of March.
It was a good one. It went at a moderate speed; not too fast, not to slow and did everything that February is supposed to. In some ways, it felt more energizing than January.

We are getting closer to spring, closer to the end of the academic year, closer to summer and closer to vacations and fun. But, I guess it’s important to not get ahead of myself either.

Valentine's Day, the Super Bowl, Homecoming at my alma mater/current job, award show season, a baby shower, a baby being born…There was a lot to celebrate. A lot to look forward to! A lot to plan for. And I'm rolling with it. It's a good time to be alive!

Watch
  • American Murder: Gabby Petito
  • American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson
  • Dateline
  • Home Improvement reruns (for whatever reason, I've been watching this on Netflix)
  • The Voice
  • The Recruit (started watching the first couple of episodes, but it needed too much attention for me to keep going for the time being - and it was canceled.)

Adapt
"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude".
- Maya Angelou

The one thing we can count on in this life is change. Just when you think you've hit the mark, the target moves. I like to think of when you're really into a TV show - The cast is great, the storyline is moving along smoothly, and then, out of nowhere, new characters are introduced. At first, you're excited because it's fresh — You don't know where it's all going to lead or what will happen next. But, then, it feels awkward. Everyone is trying to find their rhythm with the other characters and getting the dialogue right, or it's a new hangout spot and it's just off. You miss the way it used to be when so and so was still on. That's a bit what it feels like in life right now and with this year, but we're adapting. We're moving right along and making the best of it. Isn't that mostly what life is?

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Disneyland
  • Celebrating one of my best friend’s daughter’s birthday (I was sick the day of the birthday party, so I wanted to make it up to her another night. I went to their house; we ate dinner, watched a little hockey, caught up on the last few weeks. It was very nice)
  • Galentine’s Day with one of my best friends; eating a heart-shaped pizza and watching “10 Things I Hate About You” while her toddler jumped on all of us! ha.
  • Getting to hold my “niece” for the first time. (I’m an only child, but one of my lifelong friends, who’s always been more like a sister, had a baby and I got to hold her for the first time).
  • Homecoming Week at work (basketball game, alumni mixers and socials galore)
📓LESSONS LEARNED📓
  • People can’t read your mind (probably for the best most of the time, yes), but that means you have to ask for what you want or tell people when you’re struggling. It can be an uncomfortable conversation but better off in the long run.
  • Concerts are considered luxuries these days. The costs of any artist through Ticketmaster, AXS, etc. are astronomical!
  • Just a few minutes in sunshine can do wonders. I’m learning to take more brain and eye breaks away from my computer and work. We aren’t meant to work 24/7 just for the sake of it. Let the time you do work and create mean something.
  • The older you get, the more you’ll have to schedule time with your friends - Dinner, coffee, hangouts, trips, whatever it is. But, that doesn’t mean you should blow it off or say you’ll do it another time. Life happens far too quick for that!
  • You have to find time to unplug from your devices. i'm reading a book called “the unplugged hours” and based on my role as a social media manager and just how quickly the world moves these days, it's important to have clear boundaries in these areas. my eyes are still pretty good, but I actually do have a small prescription that i have to get for lenses now.
  • `Zines are becoming the new trend! Physical copies of magazines are back in and I’m so excited about this. People all around the world are using their creativity and talents to start their own publications of things they love, things they’re passionate about, etc. It’s such a fun peek into someone’s world!

Something to think (or journal) about…💭📓

We have two months under our belt for 2025. The trees are blooming, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining more. I'm excited for spring (not so much for the allergies that are already flaring up, as I type). Spring is my second favorite season (fall comes in first, of course) because it's another time I feel the most inspired to write or create.
  • What will you miss most about winter, if anything?
  • How will you spend the extra daylight now that the time has changed and we're moving into spring?
  • What is one thing you want to create or do as you move into the spring months? (organize that closet? write the blog post? take a solo trip?)
  • How do you feel transitioning into a new month? Any best practices that you do each time one rolls around?
  • A challenge: As you head into the week, pick a color you want to focus on and see how many objects you can find - snap a picture and make a fun collage! (I've seen this on social media and want to give it a try myself)
Here we go into another week!
