Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with
Real (smart) Budgets

Sunday, March 2, 2025
Hello First name / friend,

Welcome to March! I, for one, am happy to flip the calendar and inch closer to sunnier, warmer days. We got a little tease last week with temps in the 50s, but now we're back to the 20s and 30s.  I don’t mind too much though, especially when the sun is out…and when I know spring is around the corner.

The past couple of weeks have been a bit of a drag for Bill. What started as a routine Mohs procedure on a tiny spot on his nose turned into pretty major plastic surgery, complete with skin grafting and a “forehead flap nose reconstruction.”  If you're brave, google it, but I'll spare the details. I know many of you have experienced similar procedures and can relate. Thankfully, he’s feeling fine, has no pain, and he works from home, so that Zoom camera can stay off the next few weeks. He has a great attitude, and we’re hopeful the follow-up procedure in a couple of weeks will put this behind him.

If nothing else, it’s a good reminder to stay on top of those skin checks (I have my first appt with a derm this week)  and never skip the sunscreen (or a good hat!). Let this be your friendly nudge to make that appointment if you’ve been putting it off like I was.

Speaking of sunscreen… it’s the perfect time to talk about beauty routines. This week in the FREE Jumpstart Challenge, we’re focusing on simple beauty habits that help us look and feel our best—without overcomplicating things. From skincare essentials (hello, SPF!) to easy makeup tweaks and hair updates, these small changes can make a big impact.

If you missed weeks 1-3 of the free challenge, you can catch up on all the daily challenges and associated emails in this PDF. Just click the bubble for the day, and you can see the email prompt.

Whether you’re refreshing your routine or just need a little nudge to prioritize yourself, this week’s prompts will give you quick, actionable ways to boost your confidence and keep things simple. You can get each prompt delivered to you daily, Monday-Friday this week — sign up HERE.

Now, here's what you may have missed this week from B.Styled:

3.Time for a Wardrobe Basics Check-In
Before you start shopping for fresh, fun spring pieces, take some time to check  your wardrobe basics. These are the pieces you reach for constantly—the ones that make everything else in your closet work. If they’re worn out, stretched out, or missing altogether, now’s the time to refresh them so it can be easy to #justgetdressed.

✅ Are your go-to layering tees, tanks, and tops in good shape?
✅ Do your favorite pants still fit well and feel polished?
✅ Are your neutral shoes and bags still looking fresh?

Once your basics are in order, everything else falls into place!

The (Not-So-Exciting) Secret to Effortless Style

The reality is, wardrobe basics aren’t the most thrilling pieces to shop for. They don’t have the instant “fun factor” of a trendy jacket, a pattern top, or statement shoe. But when it comes to making it easy to #justgetdressed, these are the real MVPs of your closet.

✅ They’re neutral—but your kind of neutral. Whether you lean toward black, navy, gray, camel, or ivory, these pieces create the foundation that makes mixing and matching effortless.

✅ They’re solid—patterns and prints are fun, but solids are what allow your wardrobe to stay cohesive and versatile.

✅ They’re seasonless & timelessbut let’s be realistic… truly timeless pieces are rare.  Even basics evolve, so it’s important to make sure yours are current and not dating your look.

Need help figuring out what’s still working and what needs an update? That’s exactly what we do inside my private style group (Spring launches very soon) and in my 1:1 Style Power Hour—I’d love to help!

And speaking of investment—these are the pieces worth spending on. Quality matters when you’re wearing something multiple times a week. A great-fitting pant, the perfect layering tee, or a beautifully made blazer can elevate everything else in your wardrobe.

I’ve rounded up my top recommendations in the Elevated Building Blocks Catalog—check it out HERE for my must-have basics that will make getting dressed so much easier.

That's it for today. Thanks for being here!
