Now, A WOLF cut and a SHAG cut are the same cut. Yes, they are the SAME. The names are interchangeable but they are the same thing.
✨The Shag started in the US back in the 70's and the new Wolf is a Korean take on a shag.✨
Let's break down what a shag haircut is and isn't:
👉 A shag haircut does NOT have a parting. The fringe part of the hair comes FORWARD into a bang.
👉 You cannot have a shag or wolf haircut without bangs. If you're looking for a shag with no bangs, what you're really looking for is a long layered haircut.
👉 A shag is meant to be worn all natural. It follows the natural growth pattern of the hair. We don't push the hair to do anything it doesn't want to do.
👉 A shag has heavy crown layering that is connected to the fringe section. The crown at the back can be left a little longer so it doesn't leave you with a mushroom look, but the layers are connected.
👉 The overall layers can be connected or disconnected. I always connect them for an easy and seamless grow out.
👉 There are lots of layered haircuts that are shag - inspired but not a true shag.
👉 A shag haircut can be cut wet or dry. If you wear your hair curly or wavy, it's best to do a dry cut so we can see where the hair wants to sit
And finally, but most importantly, when looking for a stylist, check their work before you see them because this haircut requires skill and years of experience. This is not a haircut that's taught in school, and unless a stylist has invested time and money into learning and making mistakes, you may end up with a half-assed layered cut.
