Ojas as the Foundation

What is it you love most about Ayurveda?

I'm curious about your answer (you can hit reply to let me know).

Recently my teacher asked me this question.

Without a doubt, my answer is prana, tejas and ojas.

In my own life, I’ve stopped focusing on what’s out of balance and started turning my attention toward what I want.

I primarily want more ojas as it is our source of nourishment + bliss.

In the past I’ve used up my energy without truly replenishing it- leading to burnout.

While I can’t claim to be fully recovered (a lifetime of pitta perfectionism on high alert unwinds at its own pace), I can say that I don’t feel I’m continuing down the same path of imbalance.

Ojas is now the foundation for everything I do and teach.

It's why I'm so dedicated to Yoga Nidra and abhyanga. It's why I've stopped working at night and why I've chosen to work with fewer students, but in a deeper capacity. These choices feel nourishing to me right now. They feel in support of ojas.

In this week’s Simple Ayurveda Podcast I’m sharing more about ojas- from the specific sutras in the Vedic texts to the modern link between ojas and biological conflicts.

Part of the episode is a clip from Ayurveda Encompassed and part of the episode answers a student question about types of ojas- where they’re located in the body, how ojas is formed and how we can regenerate ojas.

If you’re interested in the nuance of weaving together the threads of ancient wisdom and modern challenges, this episode is for you.
