Give yourself a break.

It's spring break week at Central Michigan University, and I know our scholars have been eagerly anticipating this time! Things can get pretty hectic toward the middle of the semester, and you're probably craving a break from your classes, papers, tests, and deadlines.

If you're traveling during spring break, enjoy your trip! If you're staying home, take this time to relax while still being productive.

Make sure to prioritize rest. Catch up on sleep and give yourself a chance to decompress. Spend quality time with friends and get outside; being in nature is a great way to relieve stress and boost your energy through physical activity.

You can also stay productive by blocking some time to complete lingering assignments, study, or read ahead. You could even get a jump start on longer-term projects that aren't due until later. You'll feel accomplished knowing you've made progress on your work!

The key is finding balance. As you enjoy your break, try to let go of any feelings of guilt that may arise—it's completely normal! You deserve to relax and rejuvenate. Take the time you need so that when you return, you'll feel refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of the semester.

Spring break is also a great opportunity to reflect on your well-being and evaluate how you're managing your key habits. Figure out what changes you want to make to feel your best. It usually doesn’t take much, but does require awareness and your attention.

Small shifts in behavior go a long way.

Log into our 365 community platform and click on the Key Habits Program to create your habit plan for the remaining weeks of the semester. Identify non-negotiables that will keep your mental and physical health in tip-top shape.

You’re more likely to stay focused on your goals when you have key habits that support you! ✨ ✨

Take care, Lynn
