You forgot
You again got to take care of others who needed you more than ever and I am proud of you, you were truly there for them…and in the meantime…like many times before…. you forgot.
Ā
You got back to your old habits of staying up late on your screen and waking up late.
Ā
You went back to snacking on junk food and not watching your expenses.Ā
Ā
You stopped tracking your habits, doing your weekly reviews and creating some buffer time in your day. Now you are just running from one errand to the other, in firefighting mode.Ā
Ā
Your work tasks are getting done, but at the very last minute, and that has been stressful for you.
Ā
You postponed your doctor checkup although you very well knew you needed those vitamins.
Ā
Things don’t inspire you as much, you are too strained to feel inspiration.
Ā
You don't see beauty even if it's right in front of your face, you are too tired to notice it.
Ā
You forgot yourself.
Ā
You forgot the basics: the enough sleep hours, the nourishing food, the moving of the body and the going outside in the sun.
Ā
Remember the basics, my friend. Remember to give yourself first so you can give your family and work with love rather than resentment.
Ā
Leave your phone out of your room and read a good book until you fall asleep.
Ā
You know the steps, you just forgot.
Ā

P.S. Let’s chat if you are considering hiring me to talk to your team (or your students! see below) about the science of goal setting, building habits, mastering focus to improve performance and time management, or beating burnout. Reply to this email, and we can start from there.

Snapshot from my week:Ā
With some of my young audience yesterday in talk about winning their lives back from their phonesĀ

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark āš”ļø a newsletter listing 3 sparks that I thought were worth starting your week with (Today I chose 3 quotes from 3 books I read):
Ā
1. šŸ“š šŸ“µ My digital awakening started in 2019 when I read the book: Digital Minimalism (Available in Arabic) and my first TV interview was about it. I later created a podcast episode based on the book to highlight our unhealthy relationships with our phones, then shared updates about my (second) one-month digital decluttering challenge in short follow up episodes. Years later, this topic is even more urgent! That's why I used much of this content to create yesterday's talk to the youth of my kids' school (My first ā€œTEDā€ Talk because I know more are on the way). I have also recently been moved to raise this topic after reading the newly released revised edition of How to Break Up with Your Phone by the talented journalist Catherine Price. I highly recommend this book, it inspired many great points I shared yesterday (and in my post above).Ā
Ā
2. 😮 Save this invaluable document: Recommended Screen and Device Guidelines & Resources for Families From Catherine Price. I already started doing her 30-day challenge (Gmail deleted from my phone today). Would you like me to do it with you soon?
Ā
3. šŸ’¬ This quote mentioned in Catherine Price's book freaked me out:
ā€œI had these people who would come up to me and they would say, ā€œI’m not on social media…I value my real-life interactions. I value the moment. I value presence and I value intimacy.ā€ And I would say,ā€¦ā€œWe’ll get you eventually.ā€"Ā
