If self-doubt, neglect, or criticism are present within, they will inevitably ripple into your interactions with others. But when you cultivate self-compassion, inner peace, and self-worth, you naturally create deeper, more fulfilling connections.
A Personal Reflection on Self-Love
When Leslie and I went through two years of the Magdalene Rose Priestess Training, self-love and deep inner exploration were at the heart of our journey. Walking through the Sabbats, attuning to the seasonal changes, and focusing inward made such a profound impact on both of us. It was a time of transformation, peeling back layers, and stepping into a more empowered version of ourselves.
Beyond my Life Coaching certification back in 2002, this had to have been one of the most rewarding and life-changing programs I’ve ever participated in. One of the affirmations our teacher gave us still echoes in my heart:
"I am self-love. I am self-worth. I am self-belief."
These words became a mantra—a reminder that the relationship we cultivate with ourselves is the most important one we will ever have. Without self-love, we can’t fully open our hearts to deep, meaningful relationships with others.
Why This Matters
Self-Love Sets the Standard – The way we treat ourselves teaches others how to treat us. If we don’t prioritize our well-being, we unconsciously signal to others that it’s okay to do the same.
Inner Peace Reflects Outward – When we cultivate self-acceptance, we bring more harmony and understanding into our relationships.
Authenticity Attracts Alignment – The more we embrace our true selves, the more we attract relationships that reflect that authenticity and support our growth.
Ways to Strengthen Your Relationship with Yourself:
Practice Self-Compassion – Speak to yourself as you would a dear friend. Notice when self-judgment arises and replace it with kindness.
Honor Your Needs & Boundaries – Pay attention to what drains or nourishes your energy. Say “yes” to yourself more often.
Spend Time Alone Mindfully – Journaling, meditating, or simply sitting with your own thoughts helps deepen your self-awareness.
Celebrate Your Strengths & Growth – Recognize your progress, even in small ways. Self-appreciation fosters confidence and joy.

Breathe in Love – With each inhale, visualize a soft golden light filling your heart space. With each exhale, release any tension or self-judgment.
