Pathfinder Kitchen: Hands-on Culinary Training
Our Pathfinder Kitchen Spring cohorts are gaining valuable real-world experience as they prepare for careers in the culinary industry. The first cohort recently completed their six-week program with Anna Sudha Community Kitchens, which included a visit to Restaurant Depot, where they explored pricing, portions, and supply management. They then put their knowledge to the test by planning and budgeting a meal for 100 people. Throughout the program, participants built foundational cooking skills, earned their ServSafe Manager and Allergen certifications, and engaged in professional development to set them up for success in the food service field. As we celebrate their achievements, we are also celebrating a major milestone. This cohort marks the expansion of Britepaths' programs to Loudoun County for the first time! We are excited to welcome our next Pathfinder Kitchen cohort starting soon.

Despite the cold and rain, our incredible community came together on Saturday, February 15 at the Fairfax City Walmart to support local families facing food insecurity. Thanks to your generosity, we collected 995.9 pounds of food—valued at $1,961.92—
for Fairfax County Public Schools students served through our Food4Thought program! A huge thank you to our volunteers from Robinson Secondary School’s SGA, Britepaths Board Member Christina Saxon, and all the community members who showed up to make a difference. We’re also grateful to our dedicated team— Cora Lundgren, Krizia Fuentes, and our partners Fairfax County and Walmart Fairfax Supercenter 5880—for making this event a success!
Britepaths Executive Director Abra Kurt and Food Security and Youth Programs Manager Cora Lundgren recently attended a gathering of food providers serving Fairfax County's Region 1. Convened by United Community and Lorton Community Action Center and hosted by Capital Area Food Bank, this series is bringing together dedicated organizations to discuss collaboration strategies, resource sharing, and ways to enhance client-centered services for those in the region who are food insecure. Britepaths is proud to be part of these vital conversations as we work toward a stronger, more food-secure community.
Britepaths works to close this SNAP gap through our Food Security programs, but we need your support. Advocate for more robust food assistance policies, donate, or volunteer to help ensure that every member of our community has access to healthy and nutritious food.
