Vintage retro logo that says The Friday Finisher in off white and black colour.
Hi First name / friend,

Just a quick intro from me today. I hope you are well? This week I've been busy adding some new projects to my website, filming videos and planning a (wait for it) course I want to launch, something you've been asking for ages. More details sometime soon.

This week's edition of the Friday Finisher has a game that helps improve your pen tool skills, a new rebrand from Pentagram, and a podcast I enjoyed this week all about getting un-lost. Enjoy!

DESIGN ASSET OF THE WEEK
High Quality Laptop Sticker Mockup

A good mockup can take your design presentation to the next level. Realistic, high-quality mockups make your work look polished and professional, helping clients and followers visualise how a design will look in the real world.

This week, I came across a free laptop sticker mockup that I had to share! It’s super clean, realistic, and perfect for showcasing sticker designs naturally. Whether you’re working on merch, branding, or just a fun project, this one’s worth adding to your toolkit. I hope it comes in handy for you.

INSIGHT OF THE WEEK
How The LinkedIn Algoirthm Works

As designers, it's important to share our work on professional platforms like LinkedIn, where potential employers and clients are hanging out.

This week I came across an interesting post on LinkedIn that dives into how the platform’s algorithm is working in 2025. While it’s a useful insight, I believe we should take it with a pinch of salt, as no one truly knows the full details of how social media algorithms function. However the findings are still quite interesting if you are looking to grow your account there.

I've started sharing videos and content on LinkedIn this year, and although I've not noticed too much traction yet, I'm hoping it can become a real marketing platform for my work eventually.

Pentagram's Latest Rebrand Is Here

Pentagram's new branding for Zeff brings attention to their innovative, 100% recycled and recyclable recycling bin. The design uses a bold wordmark and technical elements, highlighting the product's eco-friendly nature. The visual language communicates transparency and sustainability, while positioning Zeff as a leader in responsible recycling.

This identity reflects Zeff's commitment to reducing waste, with art direction that celebrates its craftsmanship. The brand encourages a shift towards more sustainable living.

What are your thoughts? I'm a fan of the branding, but I can't help but feel the wordmark font choice feels a little Gen Z for a recycling bin?

WEBSITE OF THE WEEK
Improve Your Pen Tool Skills

I came across a fun game called Bezier that’s perfect for improving your Pen Tool skills. It challenges you to draw shapes and paths, helping you get faster and more precise. Whether you’re just starting out or want to refine your skills, it’s a great way to practice without feeling like a boring task.

If you’re looking to get more comfortable with the Pen Tool, this is a super fun way to do it! It’s quick, engaging, and a great way to level up your design skills.

PODCAST OF THE WEEK
3 Steps To Get Un-Lost As A Creative

I tend to overshare, and if you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know that. Right now, I’m feeling a little lost as a creative. There’s so much I want to do, but I’m unsure where to start or what’s worth my time. I’m grappling with what will pay the bills and what will make me a better designer. Sometimes it leaves me feeling stuck and unable to make a decision on what to do next.

I recently came across an insightful podcast episode from Creative Pep Talk, where host Andy J. Pizza shares three steps to help creatives feel less lost in their journey. It's a great listen if you're feeling stuck or unsure about your creative path. Andy explains that taking small, intentional steps helps to regain clarity and focus.
