Hello, friends!

I've been working on a new sewing pattern for spring, and though it's not quite ready yet to launch, I wanted to give you a sneak peek at the new design. I made my first prototype for this pattern in 2020 (!), and have been wearing samples of this pattern ever since. I really love wearing it, and am excited to finally give you a little preview. I can't wait to have it ready for you!!

Introducing…Sapphire!

Sapphire is a button-front top and dress with gathered sleeves and skirt designed for woven fabrics. The dress view features a maxi-length skirt that includes inseam pockets and side vents at the hem. You can choose a short sleeve or elbow-length sleeve with elasticated cuff. As with my other patterns, two front bodice pattern pieces are provided - for fuller and smaller chests - to provide fit flexibility for different busts.

Take a look…

The facings can optionally be attached on the outside of the garment for a fun pop of contrast. Here's a pink version I made with short sleeves and the facings on the outside:

Sapphire can also be made as a top, with either short or elbow-length sleeves. Note that I  lengthened the sleeves on this red version to get a slightly longer Âľ-length sleeve - a super easy mod.

Sapphire will be offered in our extended size range with fourteen sizes A-N, designed to fit chest measurements up to 66" [168 cm] and hip measurements of up to 70" [178] .

AND! I know that sewing buttonholes can be intimidating for folks, so there’s also a buttonhole-free option (a “faux” button placket). I also have a few other fun mods for this pattern that I can't wait to share with you!

I love Sapphire as a top with shorts and sandals in warmer weather and as a comfortable maxi dress with big dramatic sleeves and a fun flowy skirt all year round. I wear my Sapphires for everything — from running errands to fancy evenings out; it's just right balance between fancy and casual. I hope you can tell I really love this pattern, and I hope you will too!!

I'll be back in your inbox soon with a “Get Ready” post with my favorite fabrics for this pattern and yardage requirements so you can start gathering materials and get ready for this pattern.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Happy sewing,
- Rae

PS. I just got back yesterday from a trip to Europe chaperoning a trip for Clementine's high school choir. See some of my photos here!!
