Hello First name / friend!
Are you ready to get this week going?! When this email gets into your inbox, John will be traveling for work till Wednesday, which has been such a growth opportunity for me to be with Sophie without him home. ("Growth Opportunity" is the nice way of saying - "This is really challenging but I'm trying to be positive about it!) As I reflected on what to share this week, I was brought back to my pregnancy. Now to be completley honest, I was petrified of pregnancy and becoming a mom. It made me anxious to even think about it. I struggle with the unknown and this was the biggest unknown I had ever experienced!
In order to help keep my anxious thoughts at bay, I decided to focus on small healthy habits to keep me feeling at peace during my pregnancy, even in the midst of the unknown. Below are the habits that I felt were the most impactful to the health of my pregnancy, both physically and mentally - and I wanted to share those habits with you!
☀️ My 4 Healthy Habits during Pregnancy ☀️
1️⃣
Prioritizing Hydration – I made it a goal to drink plenty of water and electrolytes every day, which kept me feeling energized and supported my overall health. Even now, while breastfeeding, I still swear by
these electrolyte packets!
2️⃣ Keeping Up with What I Love – Whether it was daily Mass, prayer, exercise, or teaching my piano students, I continued doing the things that made me feel like me. Even on days I felt tired, I tried to modify rather than stop altogether.
3️⃣ Walking & Stretching Daily – I took small walks outside every day and made time for stretching, especially in my third trimester. Not only did this help with digestion and sleep, but I believe it also contributed to a smooth, natural delivery!
4️⃣ Focusing on Nutrition – I paid close attention to my body’s needs, making sure I was eating enough protein, healthy fats, and nutrient-rich foods. If I had cravings, I first checked if I was missing something in my diet before indulging. This approach kept me feeling good and fueled my body the right way.
Pregnancy is such an incredible journey, and while it can feel overwhelming at times, small, intentional habits made a world of difference for me. If you’re currently pregnant or hoping to be one day, I hope these tips encourage you!
