EVENTS WORTH TRAVELING FOR

Hey First name / friend!

Let’s be honest—sometimes the best travel memories aren’t just about where you go, but when and why.  Thousand of people traveled all over the world last year to catch Taylor Swifts Era's Tour.  Interestingly enough, even with  flights it was less expensive to see her in Europe than the many of the US dates.

There’s something unforgettable about arriving just in time for a once-a-year celebration, a natural wonder, or an event that turns a great trip into an epic one.  I tend to avoid crowds, but some of my greatest trips have been to events.
I do have to confess, Sam and I travelled to the World Equestrian Games in  France one year, and did not see one single horse. We skipped it all.

I can see horses at home, but not the Normandy Beaches.

Whether you’re drawn to Taylor Swift on tour, music and festivals, sporting events, or seasonal spectacles, these are moments worth building an itinerary around.

Through my preferred partnerships, I can get tickets to just about any event, in any destination….scroll on for some ideas.

Bonus:  Since I am a member of the Virtuoso consortia, any bookings I do on your behalf with other members of Virtuoso will not be charged a 3-4 % credit card fees.  ( some exceptions do apply).

P.S. I am hosting a safari to Kenya, and then on to Tanzania and Zanzibar for lodge and resort inspections.  I will be out of the office from May 30-June 18.

HAVE YOU EVER PLANNED A TRIP AROUND AN EVENT?

The buzz around major sporting events is contagious. These are the kinds of moments where cities transform, fans unite, and being there becomes its own kind of thrill.

🎟 Formula 1 Grand Prix – Multiple Cities: Glamour and adrenaline collide in race destinations like Monaco, Austin, and Singapore—perfect for pairing speed with city escape.

🎟 FIFA World Cup – USA, Canada & Mexico (June–July 2026): The biggest game in the world is coming to North America. Expect packed stadiums, electric crowds, and once-in-a-generation energy.  Soccer Mad Sam will be heading to some of these if anyone else is interested.

🎟 Wimbledon – London (June–July): Tradition, strawberries, and top-tier tennis—what’s not to love? It’s summer in London with a twist.

Did you notice how I restrained myself and did not include the Kentucky Derby! And the Masters, since we locals usually all leave town the first week in April.

I can make these happen for you if they are on your wish list.

Nothing connects you to a destination quite like arriving when the streets come alive with music, ritual, and celebration.

Sure, there might be more crowds—but the energy can’t be beat when you have these events built into your itinerary:

Carnival – Rio de Janeiro (February): Samba parades, beachside revelry, and dazzling energy? Say no more.  Enjoy cruising?  Visit Carnival on a ship!

Día de los Muertos – Mexico (Early November): A colorful tribute to ancestry and life—this annual event is both sacred and spectacular.   Mexico is at the top of my list, I have some fantastic hotels in Mexico City and San Miguel de Allende.  This is also a great trip for Foodies too.

Oktoberfest – Munich, Germany (Late Sept–Early Oct): Beer, Bavarian tradition, and autumn festivity?
Natural Wonders

Some of the most breathtaking travel experiences aren’t manmade—they’re seasonal 100% powered by nature. These events only happen at certain times of year.

🌍 Aurora Season – Arctic Circle and Iceland (Sept–March): Whether you're in a glass igloo or snow-covered lodge, seeing the northern lights is magic.

🌍 Monarch Migration – Michoacán, Mexico (Jan–March): Millions of butterflies cover the forest in a surreal, silent spectacle—best experienced on a guided hike.

🌍 Cherry Blossom Season – Japan & Washington D.C. (March–April): Pink blooms take over parks and temples, creating dreamy scenery that feels like a painting.  For Japan, plan this one now, availability gets very competitive.

P.S. And hey—if none of these major moments speak to you, there's always Krakow’s Pierogi Festival. Dumplings, dancing, and dough-filled joy?
Traveling for carbs sound like a great idea to me.

For my music fans. How about Red Rocks outside of Denver?
