Hey First name / there, This Saturday, I celebrated a milestoneāturning 50! š Itās been a year of reflection and gratitude, and celebrating with those I love made it even more special. We went to Boston for dinner at a restaurant called Bar Vlaha. If youāve visited, youāll know itās as authentic as it gets. The flavors were bold and unapologetically Greekāthough Iāll admit, my American palate got a bit of a reality check a couple of times. š Another highlight? The carrot cake. Every year, my dear friend makes it for me, and itās truly the best Iāve tasted. Itās more than dessertāitās tradition, love, and the sweetest reminder of lasting friendships. Turning 50 has brought up a lot of vulnerability for me, you can see my progress here in this IG post, including reflecting on something deeply personalāmy past struggles with body dysmorphia and an eating disorder I overcame over a decade ago. For years, I fought to heal my relationship with food. It wasnāt a straight pathāit was full of twists, setbacks, and discoveries. But through conscious effort and self-compassion, I came to a place where food no longer felt like the enemy. I know Iām not alone in this. If youāre finding your way through similar struggles, I want you to know that healing is possible. Itās okay to ask for help. And itās okay to take your time. Speaking of time, I know how hard it can be to balance everything, which is why I wanted to share a quick and easy recipe thatās become a favorite of mine latelyāCrockpot Teriyaki Chicken with Broccoli, recipe below. |
