Meeting Summary

πŸ“ We talked about the different flavors of perfectionism.

Perfectionism can show up in different ways in your life - and it doesn't necessarily mean you're a Type A, schedule-oriented person. You can be a β€œMessy Perfectionist,” a β€œProcrastinator Perfectionist” and more!

We all took the Perfectionist Quiz on Katherine Morgan Schaffler's site. (She's the author of A Perfectionist's Guide to Losing Control.)

*And yes. I had to get over the fact that her site still has the Squarespace Cube as it's favicon.

πŸ” We talking about the stigma around perfectionism.

It's not always a harmful thing - it can be an asset if your tendencies aren't harmful.

Your perfectionism can be helpful (adaptive) or harmful (maladaptive). If you're a perfectionist, you'll probably exhibit perfection in BOTH forms. Bad and Good. Helpful and Harmful.

πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ Several folks didn't identify as perfectionists!

Especially based on the mainstream understanding of perfectionism.

TLDR⚑️

  • Perfectionism isn’t something that needs to be β€œfixed.”
  • There are lots of different types.
  • If an external label doesn't feel right to you - that's your business!
